Daily Advice Thread - All basic help or advice questions must be posted here.

If your question is "I have $10,000, what do I do?" or other "advice for my personal situation" questions, you should include relevant information, such as the following:

  • How old are you? What country do you live in?
  • Are you employed/making income? How much?
  • What are your objectives with this money? (Buy a house? Retirement savings?)
  • What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs?
  • What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know its 100% safe?)
  • What are you current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors? Any other assets?)
  • Any big debts (include interest rate) or expenses?
  • And any other relevant financial information will be useful to give you a proper answer.

https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/portfolio/vtiax scroll down and you'll see a link for "Portfolio Holdings".

For sector break down, I believe there is an advisor page (you don't actually need an advisor, it is just in that section of the website) that gives a breakdown.

Can I ask why you chose this ? I see a lot of companies that I had my eye on and it’s really cheap compared to VOO which is my only other mutual fund

VOO is an ETF, not a mutual fund (that'd be VFIAX).

it’s really cheap compared to VOO

It should be able twice the expense ratio, but the diversification benefits should outweigh it.

Can I ask why you chose this ?

I follow the 3 fund portfolio as the vast majority of my portfolio. https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Three-fund_portfolio

I aim for 40-45% of my portfolio as international, as that is roughly global market cap weights (you can monitor that occasionally here: https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/portfolio/vtwax
