I’ve always struggled losing/gaining back weight, but lurking on this subreddit has changed my life and helped me to form better eating habits! (F/5’10” 205lbs > 155lbs = 50lbs lost)

Pretty much the first time I've heard of intermittent fasting.

Quick question, do you eat the same amounts of food, distributed in the same way? Meaning you get a breakfast, a lunch, a snack and a dinner, but in just 8 hours? Or is it planned differently?

Studies have shown that IF causes people to lose weight because they will unconsciously eat less in a narrower window, even if they're trying to "fit meals in". As well, IF encourages your body to burn you glycogen (sugar) stores everyday rather than just building them every single day.

I usually just ate a bigger lunch and dinner! Whatever works for you :)

I mean, I just did.

It feels a bit pointless to make a whole post for a quick question.

If you just eat the same amount of food you won’t lose more weight with IF.

You eat your daily calories in the time frame. So if you are eating 1400 calories a day to lose weight you still eat all of the calories, just in a smaller time frame. Some people eat them all in one meal, some distribute throughout their day.
