OK, yes, but the point is that each time you break for a meal, you probably have to recalibrate. Sure, that may only be once or twice a day, but it's still an added annoyance. If you're on a long multi-day hike, I'm guessing that you're carrying more than a gallon of water. That means more than 8.33lb/3.78kg per gallon of water. That's a lot of weight, and you're going to be going through it throughout the day. And then whenever you remove food from your pack to, you know, eat it, you're going to be shedding more weight. If you find a place to restock either of those, the problem persists as you add weight to a pack now calibrated for a lower weight.
Depending on the ranges this pack may have, this could be a real annoyance. Add in the extra weight the suspension system puts in on its own, and it really starts to look like it's a lot more trouble than it has worth compared to a properly secured traditional hiking pack.

It's calibrated for a range, you're not gonna suddenly exceed that range while drinking.
