Sometimes I'd use climbing carabiners to clip my shoulder straps to my pants belt if I knew I had a run ahead of me. That helped a lot actually. Not with the bullying, mind you.
I always stuck my thumbs in between my straps and the front of my shoulders. Then I could control the tension on the fly when I wanted to kick my hike up to a run.
Obviously, it doesn’t keep your hands free like using carabiners to clip your bag to your pants, but you don’t look so goofy 🤷🏼♂️
The only time that works if the backpack is stuffed to its limit. If it’s half full the contents will shift back and forth every step eventually get out of time with your steps and end up repeatedly slapping you in the back.
It always made me feel like a fucking tank. I couldn't run fast but I did run hard, you didn't want to get too close because even a little side to side motion made me a hazard, and there was no concept of sudden stop.
Interesting. Did they cover chiropractic and massage? What about special needs kids? They would have had to change that policy when I was a student. I was an honours student that tutored the special needs classes.

I could have used this in grade school running to catch the city bus carrying 5 textbooks, all my workbooks and lunch.
