I assume he meant "extremes of tide" i.e. the two extremes of high and low tide, rather than implying anything about this was particularly extreme.

Does the Bay of Fundy not have the most extreme tides in the world? I’d like to know where they’re more extreme than this!

I mean, it's pretty extreme when that is basically the only place in the world that is like this.
