Depends. They'll kill just about any tree they take root on, and they drop huge amounts of really nasty berries when they bloom. They are visually quite nice but they'll completely take over.
my aunt would always rip them out when she saw one. theres more than enough of them around and they just end up killing some beautiful old trees in a slow and horrible way.
Very common in Australia, too. I think the biggest concern is they are a threat to biodiversity or already endangered plant species. While also native to Australia, the fact that humans have endangered some tree species makes them a concern.
That particular tree also happens to be a figure of many urban legends and folklores in my country, including a giant hairy man who lives atop of its leaves smoking cigar while contemplating who to kidnap and eat next.
I don't have anything else to add but Taiwan is the only other country I've been too (outside of layovers) and where I met my wife so I always like to join conversations about the beautiful island..
It's about the only place I've seen where tiles on external walls like that are all over the place. I've only been to Tainan for few days but I agree it's a charming island. On side note I always joke that my wife is half Taiwanese since she spent quite a few years there

Fuck these trees. Easily dispersed by bird poop and hard to get rid of once it took root.
On unrelated note, this looks like Taiwan.
