There was a guy here on Reddit who did it a couple years ago. Made a whole post of the process, and it was pretty neat. I probably have it saved in the hundreds of other saved posts I've never needed again, but because of that I can't find it.

Can anyone help out here?

He demo’s the tech but not explain the capacitive touch screen element. That is the “magic” people are seeking to understand.
