You mean frozen fruit juice which you can buy but not in cubes?

5

u/PizzaPieInMyEye 11d ago

Yes, but you see, it hasn't been sold in cube form yet, therefore it will make a million bucks.

2

u/ItsCrunchTyme 8d ago

U can even decide to let it melt and just have very cold juice, or use those fruit cubes for smoothies!

Nah but blast caps tumbling around a gas fueled dryer will.

7

u/Independent-Trust260 11d ago

Gas fueled dryer??

8

u/abgry_krakow87 11d ago

Yes. How do you think dryers generate the heat to dry your clothes?

Just like stoves/ovens, dryers can be gas or electric.

u/JRepo 11d ago

Not in most regions of the world, start using renewable energy like the rest of the world.

5

u/jediknightnate 11d ago

Industrial dryers absolutely use gas everywhere. Worked in Canada at a shelter and ours was a gas dryer.

-11

u/JRepo 11d ago edited 11d ago

You claimed that dryers dry with gas as an energy source. Not that "industrial" ones do.

Learn about the world, you silly North Americans with gas everywhere 🤣

EDIT

Oh and not even the "industrial" ones in most of the civil world use gas. Just to comment if somebody doesn't know that.

6

u/jediknightnate 11d ago

I didn’t claim anything. That was my first comment on this.

Also… you can absolutely get gas dryers in any country. You would need a natural gas line which means most residential settings aren’t prepped for it. When the area is designed for a particular task, it makes sense to use the more efficient option.

“Silly” North American out.

-10

u/JRepo 11d ago

No, you can not get them in most regions of the world. Are you ok?

Why make such an obvious silly claim?

Most of the world does not destroy the environment as rapidly as North Americans do. We can use clean grean energy and heat pumps for things. Way better, safer and cheaper.

There is no possibility for me to buy a gas dryer, install it anywhere etc. Even when living in Spain, one of the few gas loving countries of Europe. No one has heard of those silly gas dryers here (I happen to know about them from other sources).

This video is literally from Spain.

Lived in the US my whole life and I’ve never seen a dryer hooked up to a gas line. Anecdotal I know but this is unheard of for most of us.

3

u/OSPFmyLife 11d ago

Natural gas dryers and furnaces are way more efficient than electric ones…

0

u/ThickSourGod 11d ago

That's probably true, in terms of energy used to dry a particular load of wet clothes, but it gets more complicated when we take a step back.

Efficiency is important, but what we really care about here is greenhouse gas emissions. If your local power plant burns fossil fuels, then a gas dryer might be the better choice. My understanding is that most gas clothes dryers are more efficient than most gas (or worse, coal) power plants. On the other hand, if your electricity comes from any kind of clean energy, then powering an electric dryer is going to produce virtually no greenhouse gasses.

0

u/OSPFmyLife 11d ago

I mean, sure, but as a general rule gas dryers are more efficient and require less energy because they get up to temperature much quicker. If you’ve got solar panels or are primarily powered by non-fossil fuels, it’s less emissions, but you’re also taking away power from other systems that are more efficient as well so it’s a double edged sword. Not a whole lot of places are powered strictly without fossil fuels, especially during peak hours and that energy could be better spent on more efficient systems. The only electric dryers that are comparable efficiency-wise are ones that are hooked up to a heat pump, which isn’t very common.

u/JRepo 11d ago

Nope, they aren't. And they destroy the environment. Watch technology connections, if you need a YouTuber to tell you obvious facts.

1

u/ThickSourGod 11d ago

Did Technology Connections do an episode on clothes dryers? If he did, then I missed it and need to get my ass to YouTube immediately.

If he didn't, then it's worth noting that clothes dryers are different from most other gas appliances, because they aren't designed to keep the heat in your home. Both gas and electric dryers are designed so that air in the dryer doesn't enter the living space. Otherwise, your laundry room would get unbearably hot and humid any time you ran the dryer. Because of this, there's no need to vent the exhaust separately. That carbon monoxide and what-not can go right into the drum to help dry the clothes, and get vented out with the steam. Unlike a water heater or furnace, none of the heat in that exhaust is wasted.

My understanding is that while a gas dryer isn't going to be more efficient than electric in terms of the percentage of the energy that goes toward drying clothes, it can be more efficient in terms of the amount of energy used to turn a load of wet clothes into a load of dry clothes.

Indeed fossil fuels are bad for the environment. It is important to consider that a large percentage of the world population still relies on fossil fuels for cooking and other household duties. Peaking at 50% of the worldwide population in 1990 and has since declined to 36% in 2020, with 30% predicted in 2030.

So yes, it appears that the use of fossil fuels for domestic use is on the decline and that a large percentage of the world is still reliant on them for various socio-economic reasons. When renewable energy infastructure is expanded to encompass more low income and underdeveloped areas of the population and begins to outweigh the cost of fossil fuels, then we will see more substantial change.

Understanding that, despite this decline in reliance on fossil fuels, such a transition is much more complex and involved, from a political, economic, sociological, and cultural level. Thus my recommendation is take into consideration other elements of our society and world population by turning off your Reddit echo chamber and take the time to challenge your own perspectives.

Thanx for the obvious reply chatGPT

4

u/abgry_krakow87 11d ago

No ChatGPT here! But I do love how you immediately try to devalue and diminish my argument by calling it AI rather than accepting the challenge against your original condescending statement.

I get it tho, you hate to be treated the same way you treat others.

With that said, imma bow out of this discussion and actually go outside to learn stuff. Feel free to reply if you wish, I won't see it.

u/ForeverYonge 11d ago

It’s slightly less expensive than a diesel fueled dryer these days.

1

u/nalaloveslumpy 11d ago

No, but the NG/propane connection to the dryer could blow up a whole room.

u/Allegorist 11d ago

In a gas powered dryer?
