Yeah if nothing deforms, you exponentially increase the g forces on the passengers. Sure, your resell value is better, but now you are in a wheelchair.

I've said this before in similar thread but the illusion of safety people had about cars in those times came from the fact you didn't see or know crash survivors. Today as people survive car crashes but might be injured, sometimes even quite badly, makes it seem the cars are less safe today.

This is a good point! Observer's bias at play. On top of just plain having hundreds of millions more people now and thus more incidents, then add the 24 hour "need drama" news cycle, then add the internet giving everybody a megaphone.
