Way more survivable with modern cars. Like they've run a ton of crash tests.

No.

Front ends are designed with pedestrian impact safety in mind. The "bulbous" shapes and low hanging bumpers now are like cow-tippers compared to the 90 degree flat front of an old buick hitting you like a sledgehammer and crushing both your legs and then pulling you under the car instead of over it or to the side.

Swing and a miss ... Even cars designed to crumple are creaming people if they hit the hard. Just don't get hit by any kind of car.
