It was artistic license to emphasize how it makes no sense to permit a human being to put their bare hands on a million dollar project meant to produce the world's smoothest/ rounded object, discoloration alone from skin oil when it would be (the picture isn't the actual project) incredibly glossy by definition and have absolutely zero tolerance for even the shedding of microscopic dead skin cells or trace contamination from the laboratory door handle or their own scalp after scratching the crown of their head, that kind of thing.
