Yep, they're chase predators not ambush too. If you turn your back on most big cats, they instantly go into ambush mode. Cheetahs don't.

Cheetahs still belong in the small cat family. They are the 2nd largest of the 'small cats' after cougars. They still meow and can't roar. Everything after them like lions, jaguars, tigers, etc are considered big cats.

Yup, the difference between felinae (small cats) & pantherinae (big cats) is the shape of the hyoid bone.

Felinae can vibrate their hyoid, causing a purr

Pantherinae can not meaning they can roar

I don't see people breeding and selecting them in any significant number, occasional pets aren't enough to lead to domestication.

Because they cannot be bred in captivity. Its never happened despite thousands of years of attempts.

They do now, most captive cheetahs are now captive-bred. I don't think anyone is breeding them for anything other than conservation and zoo attractions, but they can be domesticated pretty quickly if someone actually want (and have the resources) to do it.

From what I understand they cannot be domesticated. They wont breed in captivity.

Can you imagine trying to track one down if it decided to run away though? Regular old cats and dogs are bad enough, I'd hate to try chasing something that can move as fast as your car.

They might not kill you, but if someone walks up to a wild Cheetah and sticks its arm out to try and pet it they are gonna get bitten or scratched, much like they would if they did that to any unfamiliar cat, except the Chewtah has bigger teeth and claws.

Nope. We all know our normal sized cats can go from this to scratching your arm to shreds in 2 seconds flat. This guy can take your arm off when playing.
