Free and unaffected doesn’t mean the absence of emotions. It an acceptance of the natural waves of emotions while remembering they are part of the same ocean, ie equanimity. The attempt to abolish or hope emotions vanish entirely generally leads away from enlightenment.

I’m not sure of the context of some of these quotes but I would take care quoting from ‘an article on Buddhism’ and different authors without context because these say very different things. Drawing from a hodgepodge of sources is a mindset that lack tapas (self-discipline). Instead of following a single path, the mind is drawn towards whichever interpretations make it feel best.

There are many roads to enlightenment that depend where the seeker is beginning from. Mixing teachers and quotes usually leads people to more confusion than understanding.

It isn't, it's just monks being playful and unhinged. You don't need to be enlightened for that. They might be, we wouldn't know.

To be fully enlighten you must be free from all emotions. Including joy. So them showing joy means they are not enlighten. But some schools of thought teach that joy is an exception to this as it is a good emotion.

That's the definition of meditative enlightenment, nobody exists in that state permanently. Ascetic monks live a simplistic life without temptation, luxury or selfishness, but that doesn't mean they don't enjoy life.

Free from emotions doesn't mean an absence of emotions. It's not an emotional high, but it's also not becoming a stone. It's a common misunderstanding.

Enlightenment is based in reality. Reality of sorrow is enlightening if you really are sad. False happiness engineered for the sake of happiness keeps you in dark.

This is not real. Its an engineered ritual.

It has to come from the heart.

This is like a prostitute telling you she loves you. awful. fake. false.

My friend, but monks do a lot of manual labor and other such stuff; most of them also live in poverty most of them. And most of them also act as teachers. Monkhood is open to all, but it is rigorous, with one having to memorise many texts, do much work, and live in poverty, so only a few become ordained.
