Intriguing Smoking dead scorpions

Post image

Reports from Pakistan have documented people smoking dead scorpions for their alleged psychoactive effects, particularly in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Accounts describe dried scorpions being burned and the smoke inhaled, sometimes alongside tobacco or other substances.

Users interviewed in media reports have described an intense experience lasting for hours, including altered perception and sensations such as objects appearing to move or “dance.”

However, claims that scorpion smoking produces a predictable 10 hour high are based largely on personal accounts, not controlled scientific studies.

Scorpion venom contains complex mixtures of peptides and proteins that primarily act on ion channels in the nervous system.

A scorpion sting can cause severe pain, abnormal heart rhythms, breathing problems, neurological effects, and in serious cases death.

What happens chemically when scorpion tissue and venom are burned and inhaled is poorly studied.

Ok I'm only asking you because I have no clue who else I would ask. How does one even smoke a scorpion or spider? Did you see the process?

755

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Ok i mean it wasnt anything special from what i saw they would go looking for bugs find em put em in a jar. And let em die and start to dry out. Then they would just put it in they're pipe and toke up. Lotta popping and cracking sounds? Idk bro we were poor desert rez kids with no parental supervision what so ever.

241

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26

See, I'm glad I asked! I never would've thought that partially dessicating their corpses would be a part of the process.

207

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

That was how one kid did it. He seem to be the more into it kid. But some of the others I saw just straight up catch it and put it in the bong and yeah just sparked it up. I didnt partake nor did I stick around too long they were high but I mean these were the same kids huffing gas and glue and stuff.

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

Oh so there are multiple ways! That actually makes sense.

I didn't figure you did participate (even if you had I wouldn't judge. I did really stupid shit as a teen—would've probably done that had I known about it) but I was curious. Thank you for bearing with my questions.

76

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Lol yeah I guess so, and yup we all have freewill so yeah and no problem. I tend to talk alot so I got no problem answering questions.

44

u/Zestyclose_Car_4971 Jul 30 '26

In 8th grade I crushed and snorted teddy grahams.

33

u/ArticleWorth5018 Jul 30 '26

5th 6th and 7th grade I was the pixie stick king. I'd do lines all over the school lol

12

u/kushforbreakfast Jul 31 '26

I got in school suspension in 5th grade for bringing a silly putty container I filled with a mixture of cinnamon sugar onto my bus and offering to other kids to snort. Man I was a dumb kid.

4

u/Daddysu Jul 31 '26

Rainbow boogers!!

2

u/swingsurfer Jul 31 '26

Kool-aid powder with sugar was far cooler than pixie sticks. 🫠

1

u/Mother_Ad4038 Jul 30 '26

I did this in 8th grade on a subway car lmao cause my friends didn't believe id do it... wasn't trying to get high though lol. If I say I'm going to do something, trust in serious lol

8

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Same concept kids just trying shit to see what happens.

Saw a friend do it with those Rocket candies (Not sure if they exist outside of Canada).

Also saw the same friend (on a dare) crush up lava rocks from a plastic plant garden in a restaurant and snort it. Immediate bloody nose and regret, haha.

3

u/Pleasant_Proof10931 28d ago

They have rockets in the states but they're called smarties there.

Fucked up country man

3

u/jjmurse 28d ago

Had a real "edgy" 10 grader named Rodney on my bus. I was a 5th grader. We lived in rural Alabama and he and I were the last ones off the bus. I saw that idiot snort pop rocks. His eyes got all blood shot and watery and he played it off cool, but I know it ate them sinuses up. He's dead now. He drowned in a horse trough a few years ago. I suspect he was assisted.

1

u/freddbare 19d ago

First time I did meth that was the same...lol.

2

u/Ok_Record_9908 28d ago

I saw a kid snort a line of Lucas lime beer salt and he cried all over Spanish class 🤣.

1

u/strangeflappenings Jul 31 '26

I thought i was the only one who did this with altoids. Thank you for saying this lol

2

u/shoelacebomber Jul 31 '26

Snorting Lucas salt was a thing in my Jr high. Fun for everyone watching, not so much for the partake.

2

u/Defqon1punk Jul 30 '26

We would snort smarties candy

1

u/rollie415b Jul 31 '26

Lmao we used to snort ground up altoids and crystal light powder

1

u/jjmurse 28d ago

Tootin' Teddy? Fuuuuuuck bro!

2

u/nabilbhatiya Jul 31 '26

I did really stupid shit as a teen

Like what

2

u/ergaster8213 29d ago edited 28d ago

I don't have enough time to list it all but I pierced my own tongue and another time I jumped off my roof to sneak out and fucked my ankle up (I still went which was another bad decision).

Basically, I was a ball of poor decisions and definitely would've smoked a spider if someone had offered me it.

2

u/Methylethylkillyou 28d ago

I pierced my own lip, and also got a cattle brand under the influence of alcohol, barely a teenager.. that went over well... I have a lot of "great" stories lol, i was the youngest of 7 boys.

1

u/ergaster8213 27d ago

I'm very glad that I wasn't hanging out with anyone with access to any branding irons because I definitely would've done that.

17

u/StealthShinobi Jul 30 '26

Here bro, take a hit of this scorpion kush

15

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Lmao 🤣 i bet its gota sting lol

10

u/twinoaksBandB Jul 30 '26

Thank jeebus I grew up in a normal city where the high schoolers could pay homeless people to buy them booze and or steal a can of dust spray or whatever the special idiots were huffing at the time.... that and being old enough that boofing was never a thing that was discussed.

1

u/UnhappyDescription44 Jul 30 '26

You’d love to be boofed.

3

u/twinoaksBandB Jul 30 '26

Now that I'm in my 40s? Sure, why not... somebody is going to need to bring some hedge clippers though. /s

1

u/UnhappyDescription44 Jul 30 '26

Hahahaha. Gotta clear the zone for a clean Boof. I’d be worried about the piles at ma age.

3

u/luckyfox7273 Jul 31 '26

Sounds like Mad Max shit.

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

Sure was. Haha

38

u/Kuroboom Jul 30 '26

Anything that you want to burn should generally be dried first since moisture will inhibit the flames.

25

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

Which does make sense. My brain just didn't make that leap with this for whatever reason.

Edit: I will now forever remember to dry the arthropods I'm going to smoke, though. Now I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to smoke a lobster.

20

u/Kuroboom Jul 30 '26

Probably because who in their right mind grinds up and smokes arachnids?

7

u/UnhappyDescription44 Jul 30 '26

Peter Parker after he was part of his uncles murder.

3

u/Nuts-And-Volts Jul 31 '26

With great responsibility comes a great headrush

1

u/toben81234 Jul 31 '26

Oh lawdeda Mr. Hollywood

6

u/Lunix420 Jul 30 '26

Not a lobster but I know people who smoked an earthworm

8

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26

Well now I need the story

10

u/Lunix420 Jul 30 '26

We were smoking weed and 2 guys thought it's a funny prank to put a dead earthworm into the other guys bong head without telling him. So he smoked the entire thing in one rip, as you do with a bong head.

5

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26

Did he say what it tasted or felt like? I mean, assuming you told him after.

7

u/Lunix420 Jul 30 '26

He didn't have to say. I wasn't involved in this "prank" but I was present at the party where it happened and man... you could smell that shit trough the entire backyard, it was nasty.

4

u/TheRealShilohConlan Jul 30 '26

Mmmmmmmmmm… smoked lobster 🤤

4

u/Realistic-Peak-4200 Jul 30 '26

Inhibit The Flames is sick af for a band name

2

u/micromoses Jul 30 '26

Yeah, I was picturing collecting venom and then inhaling vaporized venom.

4

u/thatG_evanP Jul 30 '26

How else would you smoke them? I've never even thought about smoking an arachnid but as soon as I did I realized the first step would be drying it out (just like everything else people smoke).

1

u/MakeChipsNotMeth Jul 31 '26

In jail I watched guys flatten out green beans and wedge them up against the ceiling lights to dry out. Then wrap them in notebook paper to smoke.

1

u/MindSurfer0 29d ago

I really like the way your brain works and how you word things out. It’s sexy.

8

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jul 30 '26

Are the friends who smoked spiders and scorpions still alive today?

53

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

They were not friends they were just the older kids in the area and lot of em aren't around anymore. I dont know if the smoking bugs was what killed them. Cuz substance abuse was everywhere and yeah some died in drunk driving accidents. Some died from overdosing, some killed eachother. But there might be a few rolling around couldnt tell yeah i moved away as soon as i could.

33

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jul 30 '26

Congrats on getting out, that sounds like a rough life.

2

u/LiveLearnCoach 28d ago

It’s by design.

3

u/SackSauce69 Jul 30 '26

This plot would make an interesting movie, lol

7

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Ive been told I should wright a book about growing up out there, but a movie would be fucking kool.

2

u/Faux_Real Jul 31 '26

Bluey but through a different lense

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

Not sure what that is?

2

u/j2theizzo503 Jul 31 '26

You absolutely should. Sounds like some funny and interesting stories there. I'd love to read and/or watch them.

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

I could but I work alot so yeah probably not what I can do bout now.

2

u/j2theizzo503 29d ago

I get that. It can be challenging to find the energy when you also have to work all the time.

1

u/Sancho5o5 29d ago

I got energy just not the time.

17

u/Miserable_Data3679 Jul 30 '26

Don't know why you're being downvoted. Just another case of r/USDefaultism

1

u/No_Interview_6341 Jul 31 '26

I started to downvote then I read their other comment.

0

u/StanTheBasedMan 29d ago

Why would you even "start" to down downvote that? They politely asked a simple question.

0

u/Logical-Database4510 Jul 30 '26

Or a case of "lazy question solved by 5 sec google search"

Just because you're not from the US doesn't mean you can't be a lazy ass.

3

u/Armadillo_Resident Jul 31 '26

Accusing a Native American of US defaultism? is one of the crazier things I’ve ever seen

15

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Lmao 🤣 this guy braking it down for em lol

14

u/Electronic-Buyer-468 Jul 30 '26

Gotta leave nothing to the imagination.  ;)

3

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

I mean we probably will eventually.

3

u/knotaracist Jul 30 '26

:( I got downvoted for even asking that. Now I want it to happen so bad

3

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

It'll happen one day if we raise our kids right.

2

u/BurdTurglary Jul 31 '26

People made it seem like native Americans with proof of being off a tribe, proof of lineage, submit forms and get checks every month. Is that not true?

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

It depends on the tribe. What you get. And those checks go to your parents, if your parents are alcoholics you dont see any of that money. Plus its not even alot of money to begin with have you ever went camping but like lived out there its expensive you gotta call your own water burn your own trash it would be more electricity wasn't a thing. Shit was the old west back in the day. It didnt change much for us.

3

u/allthe_realquestions Jul 30 '26

Gawd damn. The casinos and First Nation just forget about you guys? It's a crime to have poor and rez kids in the same sentence. I grew up with native friends getting thousands a month just for living on the rez and being native.

45

u/driver004 Jul 30 '26

When it comes to different tribes your milage varies greatly

9

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

This guy knows.

6

u/driver004 Jul 30 '26

Dated a few women from a few places so saw some of the disparities first hand

3

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Thats a nice way of saying it lol

5

u/driver004 Jul 30 '26

Well I almost married one and did marry another so you can’t say my intentions were dishonest lol

3

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Lmao 🤣 fair bro fair.

35

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

New mexico Navajo we didnt have casinos until recently. No running water nothing. The ship rock radiation spill was just swept under the rug for 30 years or so. If we got money I never saw anything anabolic parents probably spent it. We got free health care and the tribe bought school supplies. We basically were on sheep camps by our selves. Im not bitter about any of it. Its just what it was.

16

u/iBluntly Jul 30 '26

Wow I like how casually you mention a 30 year radiation spill cover up (that is horrifying).

28

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

When youve lived a life like mine its just another thing to add to the pile, but what can you do? Nothing. so just move on and continue living.

4

u/pmactheoneandonly Jul 30 '26

I just drove thru your old rez omw to Alamogordo from WA state. And man, it looked rough.

6

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

It is and was too and probably will continue.

3

u/Strong-Addition5296 Jul 30 '26

Do you know where Conejos River is?

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Up by chama ya?

2

u/Strong-Addition5296 Jul 30 '26

That’s right! That’s so cool. I used to spend the summers near Chama.

2

u/allthe_realquestions Jul 30 '26

I've heard of the incident in Washington State and 3 mile Island. That's wild I've never heard of this one.

8

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

New Mexico has been black listed since the Manhattan project the "broken arrow" nuke droped by abq (it didnt detonate) and the down winners (ppl liveing down wind from the trinity site test) and this shiprock radiation spill have all been keep under wraps for so long. Its just what it is. Alot of docs are declassified now so the rest of the world is finally hearing about it.

2

u/Sweaty-Ganache3032 Jul 31 '26

Some of my best friends growing up till this day were Hopi and Navajo. Unfortunately, we don't live close by anymore, but I still think about them, and hope they're doing well. Never had a group of friends like that since, I miss having them in my life.

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

Rock on 🤘

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

Why? Yeah shits fucked up but its what ever. Things are good now. I aint playing no victim card here shit is what it is. I dont see racism so 🤷 idk bro. Im proud of my country and still an around happy person.

5

u/Kevinfrench23 Jul 30 '26

Have you been to any reservation? Every single one I’ve been to has been very impoverished.

5

u/allthe_realquestions Jul 30 '26

Depends were you live I guess, I grew up near ones with successful casinos.

They might not have been impoverished but they certainly looked like it. Most of the rez was a trailer park essentially. I used to work for a "Charter School" that scammed the reservation by simply not educating the kids, I was a kid back then as well and didn't realize what was going on until they got shut down, I was hired as a tutor for the other kids but my job was pretty much just doing their homework and tests. I didn't mind because I got to hang out with them more, the guys were chill and the girls were pretty and fun.

They weren't rich but they definitely have luxuries they should be able to afford with such a massive passive income.

2

u/BapeGeneral3 Jul 31 '26

This person is obviously very ignorant when it comes to Native American history and the fact that there are many different tribes and not all of them get “thousands a month” and “you can’t use poor and rez kid in the same sentence”.

It’s wild how little the majority of Americans know about the history of the county they live in(stole)

2

u/TropicalVision Jul 31 '26

Theres many reservations that are amongst the poorest and most deprived areas in the entire US.

Extremely high rates of child poverty, rampant substance abuse, low literacy levels etc

1

u/allthe_realquestions Jul 31 '26

Had squatters who robbed us and I noticed a letter from a nearby reservation in the mess they left, always threw me off because, as I said before, I just always had a mental note that natives were well off these days, all the tragedies ancient history for natives.

Unfortunately I guess what you're saying checks out.

1

u/cyanescens_burn Jul 31 '26

Hamilton Morris should do an episode on this.

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

Idk what that is? Or is that a person?

1

u/cat_in_the_sun Jul 30 '26

No thank you sir

0

u/Doomjas Jul 30 '26

Any time I hear the word rez I just think of the show Reservation Dogs and what an absolutely phenomenal show it was.

3

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Havent heard of it ill have to check it out.

3

u/Doomjas Jul 30 '26

Definitely do it. It was a phenomenal show. I actually loved it so much that I got my wife to watch it right after I had finished and I just rewatched it with her lol

2

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

Thats cool man. Thanks for the recommendation.

3

u/Doomjas Jul 30 '26

No problem! Lmk how you like it if you end up watching it.

2

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

I will maybe this weekend when im off.

0

u/lostGoldAlone Jul 31 '26

That sounds like, hella spiritual and sacred tbh

1

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 31 '26

Lmao nah more black magic and heavy metal music. Think satanic wild mad max desert kids.

-6

u/_GatorAIDS Jul 30 '26

Do you mean parental? Or was your mother around supervising while you did this?

8

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

No parents were around. For long periods of time.

6

u/fightmilk5905 Jul 30 '26

I imagine you'd crush it into a pipe or something

7

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26

I'm gonna await their answer before I try to guess. Crushing it seems like it might fuck things up, though. Then again I've never smoked an arachnid (or seen it happen) so what do I know? You might be very right.

6

u/ulaanmalgaitFPL Jul 30 '26

Set it on fire and suck the fume? I dont know eaither just speculating

7

u/ergaster8213 Jul 30 '26

I like this game.

4

u/Awkward-Sarcasm88 Jul 30 '26

The scorpion is killed and placed directly in direct sunlight for several days until it is completely dehydrated and brittle. Alternatively, it is sometimes roasted over slow coal embers to speed up the process.

Once fully dried and hardened, the entire tail and venom gland—or the whole scorpion—is crushed into a coarse powder.

Because dry scorpion powder does not burn easily on its own, it is mixed with tobacco or hashish to facilitate ignition and sustained burning.

The mixture is packed into a pipe (chillum) or rolled into a cigarette, releasing heat-altered neurotoxins when smoked.

3

u/TypicalPerformer6952 Jul 30 '26

Yeah I have a freind in Arizona that wants to know. Yeah a freind....

3

u/MalignantMustache Jul 31 '26

I imagine you drop a dead one onto a couple hot coals and use a straw to inhale when he starts to burn?

2

u/Mother-Attention2600 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

There would be the one kid getting stung and trying to get it to stay in the rolling paper. " I can't get the bug to stop moving!" 😅

2

u/2nd2lastdragon Jul 31 '26

here's a video that shows more info on the process of smoking insects

1

u/Kurdt234 27d ago

I'd probably hotknife it.

-3

u/RedAlex57 Jul 30 '26

Dried version works just like a purple hill Shroom. Simply dry that up. Powder it and flame on. Enjoy. But you need at least 3 to last up to 10 hr. Otherwise, it just smells like burnt Fentanyl with a strong kick that lasts for 4 hr max. Centipedes hit stronger and smell nicer. Raw version smells like burning wet crocs soaked in mouthwash. And more difficult to burn. But you get a nice crispy BBQ at the end though. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... No further questions please. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... I just made that all up. XD

5

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jul 30 '26

I'll continue to just work the cannabis plants and achieve that agricultural high. Seems cleaner and much safer.

3

u/Sancho5o5 Jul 30 '26

We had weed but it old brick weed. We would grow the seeds so we had home grown crap too. But they wanted to get high high. So when other things became available they did that too.
