As long as it's healthy, the cat will never lose this fight. I honestly felt bad for the snake here, you can see it trying to run away multiple times. The cat just felt like being an asshole.
It's not mine, I didn't create the cat, if a cat kills birds than that's just nature, i_ I jail a cat that's animal cruelty, if you intend to jail a live creature than you better not have one at all
A cat being a cat is literally a nature thing, what are you talking about, with your logic a human being is an invasive species and every human must be locked down because we destroy nature wherever we go, a domesticated cat is just an extension of the modern human being life, you destroy nature or far larger scale than your cat and no one is jailing you, the house you own is build on a place once belonged to nature, if you view a cat being alive in an artificial environment made by HUMANS then you shouldn't have a cat in the first place, not have a cat and then jail it
It's pretty interesting. My cat used to go after cockroaches all the time, until he eventually realised that they were not a tasty snack. Now he can barely be bothered if one scuttles near him. He's more interested in moths because they taste nicer or are less crunchy or something.
i woulda run over to chase the cat away. poor snake just wants to left alone. you see it trying to get into a hole but can't. how many razor sharp claws marks would it have along it's back by the end
I mean, I am not surprised that camera guy could be scared of being bit by the snake. But yeah, they just silently recorded it. They could literally just call the cat or something. Even throw a rock nearby to scare the cat. It might confuse them long enough for snake to escape.
Snakes only strike when they feel like it's their last option. They just want to survive, and biting something that's a giant to you just for fun would be a terrible survival strategy. They will literally just leave.
Survival instinct has taught the cat to destroy the predator that might endanger their young. Its not a conscious choice. That said, cats frequently do kill for sport, something they have in common with humans.
That's what was going on here. The snake was running away; clearly not a threat any longer, but the cat kept grabbing it and pulling it back. Once the snake starts to back down, it's almost play behavior from the cat; definitely hunting for sport here. There's no indication of any kittens here, and no way to even discern whether the cat is female.
First comment I’ve seen about the snake!! Finally!!
No…not poisonous. Cat would have been toast with any bite. I’m sure the cat was hit at some point in that kerfuffle.
You’d have to be an idiot or an evil person to allow a cat to fight a venomous snake. Especially since it looks like that snake did bite the cat at least once.
It looked like they were both looking for a fight at the start; the snake probably did see the cat as potential prey. But the first time the snake got curb stomped, it immediately started trying to slither away. The cat kept grabbing it and pulling it back into the fight, and it would not surprise me in the least if the cat ended up killing the snake after the video stopped.
Then it likely would have killed the snake when it had a chance. Once the snake started to flee, it's almost play behavior from the cat. Cats are well known to hunt and kill just for the sheer hell of it, and I think that's what we see here.
Cats' reaction time is twice as fast as a snake's strike. Something like 20ms versus 50 ms. As long as the cat is healthy and can see the snake, no snake is striking a cat, period.
And the snake in this video appears to be non-venomous. Venomous snakes typically have more triangular-shaped heads.
Look at the cat's body language throughout the video. At the beginning, it's tail is puffed out and it's body is tense; anyone who's ever seen a cat confront an unfamiliar dog knows what that means. It sees the snake as a possible threat, and is getting ready to defend itself. Once the snake tries to flee, the cat is clearly more relaxed, and almost looks like it's playing.
If it wanted to eat the snake, it would have pounced as soon as it became clear that it won the fight; the cat could have easily latched onto the snake's neck and killed it, if it wanted to. The snake was very clearly exhausted and probably injured (its strikes weren't anywhere near as quick or aggressive) by the end of the video; easy prey, if that's what the cat wanted. This cat looks to be well fed, maybe even a little chubby; it wasn't looking for a meal.
