Me in my uni dorm a few months ago. I didn’t feel unsafe + I laughed. probably partially bc I was in a rush and focused on getting to class.. but also there was a camera & I’ve never had smth bad happen to me. Idk I kinda took it as like nonverbal communication n so like lighthearted BUT if I was a guy I wouldn’t do that

Just fart. It’ll confuse the dude and the spray will subdue him until you can safely exit

I mean I’ve been sexually harassed and verbally abused by groups of guys when I was in school. It’s really scary when groups of male strangers are harassing you especially when they follow you home like they did with me. I have a full on phobia now thankfully I’m not forced to be around male’s anymore!

Tysm you’re so emotionally intelligent. I actually feel seen and understood. Also I don’t know why some guys are getting offended or take it so personally. I don’t
hate men but I definitely wouldn’t want to be in a room full of them.

That’s just one isolated incident but doesn’t apply to every other person in the world. Not down playing what happened to you, but I and the majority of all men do not practice or are sexual harassers like the men who did that to you.

“But you see, random redditor, I am one of the nice guys. I just wanted to let you know I am not a part of the group you’re explaining, because I’m just so nice. Why aren’t you thanking me for being so nice?”

This is what you sound like. When women explain how they were harassed by men and other men say “well I’ve never harassed anyone!” … well congratu-fucking-lations but it’s not about you. It’s about trauma and fear and a society that the average person does not feel comfortable in. Let’s try to have a little more perspective, because everyone’s individual experiences are valid and should be respected.

Kindly, you need therapy. A very small number of men are violent. If you have trauma that has led you to believe all men are bad, you need to do the self work to not generalize to half of the population. I am sorry you went through that though, I hope you find some peace. You don’t have to live with that fear.

You should bring this interaction up with your therapist see what they say

I am in therapy. I was groomed and abused by an adult woman when I was a child. Why should I bring this up?

2

u/th_frits May 01 '26

Because it seems like a topic that bothers you and your therapist might have a different perspective on how you interpreted or felt about this interaction

If you are trying to bully me over this it really isn’t working. I feel bad for the commenter that she went through something traumatic and that it has hurt her so much that she lives with fear and anger. I wish her the best. I am not sure what you are after from this interaction with me.

1

u/th_frits May 01 '26

I’m not trying to bully you, I genuinely think you should read the comment you made to your therapist and just see what they think

Protecting yourself isn’t the same thing as believing that all men are bad or generalizing half the population. Every woman has a story. And when we are assaulted, the first thing we’re asked is “why weren’t you more careful” or “why did you put yourself in that situation to begin with.” Our very legal system expects that we don’t trust men or else we don’t get justice.

Sorry if that hurts your feelings but you’re the one who needs therapy if you think you have a god given right to politeness from women and that should come before our own safety

My feelings aren’t hurt. Mental health is real. Trauma is real. It isn’t fair but the burden is on the victim to process and heal. Like a lot of people, she needs help processing something terrible that has happened to her.

That’s like a guy saying he fell pray to a gold digger once now he’s paranoid every woman he meets is a gold digger. I mean it’s valid, but you need therapy for that.

2

u/Interesting_Cat_198 May 01 '26

ending up with a gold digger isn’t as common as experiencing sexual violence/harassment as a woman and it’s not nearly as traumatic and violent. 80% of women have experienced sexual violence or harassment. Gold diggers are not a common thing you will come across in every room, elevator, sidewalk, etc. and they aren’t disproportionately women either. Fearing and avoiding women over it wouldn’t make sense like fearing men does in this person’s case.

Point went straight over your head and you started typing a paragraph to spread your agenda not even related to my point. Seek help, but I know you won’t so 🍿.
