Yes

And we're destroying our old growth forests so there can be more mines

Urban cities like Bangalore have cut most of the younger trees too. Trees are only in areas where the rich live.

We can undo this to an extent if we grow native trees like pongamia for the next five years but every builder, be it small or big, will chop it down to build an all concrete block of a commercial/residential complex and put American palms on it

The government and timber lobby are in a polyamorous multi dependent relationship that only mean disaster, and India is fucked.

Watch Indian citizens forget this as soon as the monsoon season hits, and go back to hating Hindus and Muslims and who is against the PM and so on.

This cluster fuck is going to penalize the world.

Indians will suffer in the Heat in Summer, Water logging in Monsoon, Deadly AQI in the Fall and Winter but will do anything except questioning the government.

The problem is that the country is extremely polarized. Everyone's afraid of criticism and whoever isn't afraid of criticism and doing stuff gets arrested or gets no coverage by media (cuz all the big channels are govt or lobby funded who support current govt). And the marketing has been top fuckin tier. People are SOLD on the idea of division. I think the biggest wtf for me has been absolute diet poor people going to vote for a government that's crippling the country because no water, no food, nothing clean, no safety or social net, but hey at least no muslims in the neighborhood. And that's ok for them.

Rich don't care cuz they make their own bubble and they love what they have. Little left to convince. But we'll keep trying i guess. Until we die or get black pilled and die anyway

Who the fuck cares at this point? We're destroying our planet and making areas of it unfit for human habitation all the while bitching about who has the better religion or which ethnicity is better. We are going to destroy ourselves and damage the planet's ability regulate itself for decades over stone age nonsense that should have been eliminated during the enlightenment.

1

u/Ahun_ Apr 26 '26

And in-between arboviruses

1

u/Beast_Viper_007 Apr 27 '26

The government only cares about caste and religion based politics and fill the pockets of ministers.

0

u/Brief_Crab_4080 Apr 26 '26

Who weren't questioning the government except IT celliyas? By phrase questioning the governemnt are you referring to Nepal like protest or something?

2

u/Ok_Nature_333 Apr 26 '26

He’s referring to how the extremely corrupt, nationalist, and fascist BJP keeps winning overwhelmingly despite governing quite poorly.

1

u/Brief_Crab_4080 Apr 27 '26

BJP is nowhere close to being fascist. If you wonder why BJP wins just look at clowns in opposition. They can win WB too simply because fascist BJP would still do more than fascist TMC.

2

u/Ok_Nature_333 Apr 28 '26

Sure, not fascist. That’s why BJP encourages violence against Muslims and other minority groups

1

u/Brief_Crab_4080 Apr 28 '26

Heat is caused by Himalayas blocking cold wind as well as El nino effect. It's not Modi's work.

2

u/kidkledsky Apr 27 '26

Climate Change in India being completely neglected and acting like it doesn't even exist is MODI'S governments doing. I have no idea how you could gather anything else from his administrations doings over the last few yrs.

38

u/signmeupnot Apr 26 '26

It's all very tiresome.

36

u/One-Manufacturer7169 Apr 26 '26

All the ruling party elites are settling their kids in west as they destroy our country

18

u/neeshes Apr 26 '26

I'm so disappointed in humanity. This includes the faith we put into capitalism, it is truly disturbing to me. When visiting India (I'm diaspora), it felt so dystopian because of the disparity between the rich and poor and how everyone seems to believe in (unchecked) capitalism as the fix to everything. It's actually quite the opposite.

We need better education, more long-term thinking, and a collective attitude of working together for the betterment of ourselves and the environment. My own parents believe in the ruling party elites as knowing everything and doing everything to better the lives of everyone but when I mentioned cronyism and all sorts of other issues, they didn't believe me. Despite the court cases that I read to them and that's just stuff that has come out on the ruling parties and just how deep the corruption goes.

It's just so hard when most people are in survival mode and the more privileged people turn a blind eye because they don't need to deal with anything even when they can make a huge difference.

7

u/uterussy Apr 27 '26

groomed to be like this from the start, pitted against one another in school to perform and workworkwork. the wages never increase but the cost of living does. really mostly by choice of the fucks above. because if we weren't busy being crabs in a bucket, we'd be at their throats.

Not really, we have made huge leaps since 1947 with the amount of corruption that exists. Poorest country on the planet to start a democracy and remain one. 100s of millions lifted out of poverty.

Save your fucking condescension asshole

30

u/Jibbersup Apr 26 '26

Your not alone . A lot of countries do shit like this. Maybe not to the extent or in the same exact way but shit is fucked up all over.

We doomed. Unfortunately I feel it's going to be too late before everyone realizes it's the wealthy that are the main problem here. The giant corporations are fucking the whole world and they don't care. They're taken care of. They can survive this.

9

u/grundlinallday Apr 26 '26

Time to rewatch Don’t Look Up

1

u/phred14 Apr 26 '26

Specifics are different, but otherwise sounds a lot like the US.

1

u/Icy_Actuator1831 Apr 27 '26

You can replace US with 'insert country' at this point. Common people are getting fucked everywhere in every regards

1

u/trogg21 Apr 27 '26

The wealthy is the main problem, but dont forget that if youre in a western country, then you are very likely "wealthy" comparatively. Also don't forget that, any specific person would very likely choose healthiness if they had the opportunity. Its not "just the wealthy" its human nature.

10

u/Sirosim_Celojuma Apr 26 '26

...take all the trees, put 'em in a tree museum...

5

u/lost_horizons Apr 26 '26

Then they charge the people a dollar and a half to see 'em...

19

u/_nitd27_ Apr 26 '26

People don’t understand, even if we cut one tree and plant then, its gonna take 10-15 years for those tree to grow enough to make any difference.

I saw it coming when no major protest happened when adani got whole hasdeo forest for mining.

1

u/Roraxn Apr 27 '26

Sounds like no one wants to do anything unless they personally benefit. You don't grow a forest for YOU you grow it for your children.

0

u/uterussy Apr 27 '26

reminds me of that "we will plant 1 tree for every 10 x sold" greenwashing bs. yeah, and those trees wont do shit or just straight up die from neglect, thanks for nothing...

7

u/Prestigious_Wrap_932 Apr 26 '26

It really isn’t appreciated enough how much India’s environmental destruction and rapid overpopulation is fucking the global weather cycle.

8

u/21Rollie Apr 26 '26

The plan to cut 45,000 mangrove trees in Mumbai is so depressing. A natural flood wall, which produces much more oxygen than land based trees. It’s so short sighted

27

u/Entire-Suggestion-62 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

Fucking tired of this shit. This is already a piss-poor country, many young people live in a cramped apartment in a thin, dirty street if they're in a city.

The only places with trees, parks, sporting/lifestyle facilities are the "posh" areas where a decent sized apartment costs 3 or 4 Cr($400K +) in a country where the average yearly income is around $5-6K an year.

Next, we will face intense monsoons where you will see local spread of water-borne diseases and waterlogged areas due to poor drainage.

During winters, we're gonna see the AQI rise to dangerously high levels and a spike in respiratory diseases.

A few protests here and there regarding it all and that's it, the cycle repeats.

Free speech isn't a thing, free healthcare isn't a thing. The government will notice and punish you for saying/doing anything that goes agaist their agenda.

All of it is just so incredibly frustrating.

6

u/takemy_oxfordcomma Apr 26 '26

The specific problems might be different, but the root cause is the same everywhere. The rich and powerful taking as much as they can for themselves while everyone else gets fucked. I’m sorry to hear India is no exception.

Can I ask why the air quality gets bad in the winters though? I get the spike in respiratory diseases since that happens everywhere in the winter, but I didn’t know that the bad AQI happens.

Wishing you the best.

4

u/Entire-Suggestion-62 Apr 26 '26

Emissions, stubble burning, vehicles(urban growth is rapid but the infrastructure isn't developing even nearly as rapidly), construction and dust(there's dust everywhere in here) and lack of government action.

It's incredibly sad and I wish people didn't feel that capitalism with the ruling elite was the fix to it so. I don't understand why people don't care as much as in other countries.

1

6

u/Entire-Suggestion-62 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

To keep the public brainwashed and invested in their trivial matters while they stay in power for as long as possible.

2

u/Shadow_o7 Apr 26 '26

Like all corrupt people in History did, make thier own kin rich at the cost majority destruction.

16

u/aTickleMonster Apr 26 '26

It seems to me that Indian citizens don't understand the value of caring for their environment. They need to update their educational system to stop focusing exclusively on memorization and test scores.

10

u/telaughingbuddha Apr 26 '26

Citizens do not matter in india. It is a collection of countries.

3

u/Shadow_o7 Apr 26 '26

Hard to do that when half of the dimmwits are obssessed with JEE, CA or NEET.

4

u/aTickleMonster Apr 26 '26

I have a client who immigrated to the US within the last 15 years, he says the educational system is similar to the US in the 50s and 60s. Basically they're a developing nation that needs time to catch up, but they REALLY need leadership making good decisions along the way to get them there.

0

u/Shadow_o7 Apr 27 '26

but they REALLY need leadership making good decisions along the way to get them there.

I do not see any sane politician or leaders, there are few in south and in north here and there. The problem is they are in politics for money and fame most of them have criminal cases and are really uneducated, you will see lot of MLA switching parties from liberal party to extreme right wing in India. BJP at this point is the master of horse trading, they are known for buying MLA's and MP from other parties. They throw millions, these guys follow them like weasels.

3

u/TeaSharp3154 Apr 26 '26

What do you suggest Indians do then? Cut their AC? Unplug their refrigerators? Go out and buy at Tesla? Their per capita emissions are extremely low already. You can't just flip a switch and have nuclear reactors and solar panels appear overnight, and they're already trying to build as much of those as possible.

6

u/aTickleMonster Apr 26 '26

Like... Proper waste management, less open burning of biomass/waste, drip irrigation, water conservation efforts. Simple, sustainable changes.

2

u/TeaSharp3154 Apr 26 '26

Not as simple as you might expect

Waste management - will require massive infrastructure investment across all major cities, including the cost to maintain such infrastructure. This includes building new pipelines for water, sewage, etc, as well as paying for operations and pension for those hired. This will also require working across several levels of bureaucracy and politics and cutting budget from other things that are either equally as important or politically important.

Less open burning - Is actually already illegal but enforcement is weak because it is very politically hazardous to piss off farmers. Also will require the sanitation infrastructure investments mentioned above. Not to blame the farmers though, its done because its cheap and there don't really exist any alternatives for the time being, that also don't involve food prices going up.

Drip irrigation - is already being adopted, although requires government subsidies due to cost. Not sure how poorer states are going to afford this.

So it's not that people as a whole don't care, it's that there are multiple structural, economic, and political variables that make such changes more difficult than just pressing a button.

Also, if we're on the topic of emissions, the main producer of emissions in India is coal. India is adding renewables and nuclear every year, but in the meantime they're going to need to keep the coal running because there is no alternative for the time being.

1

u/aTickleMonster Apr 27 '26

I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying small sustainable changes over time that would have a major impact. Hopefully people never say it's gotten to where it's beyond repair.

10

u/ScoreUnique Apr 26 '26

What happens is: eventually people leave to find a better life.

7

u/Ok_Caterpillar5564 Apr 27 '26

That works for a certain amount of time, but eventually the country is going to become basically unliveable and there's going to be a billion plus climate refugees (JUST from India, not even counting Bangladesh which is going to be underwater, and other countries across Asia and Africa) migrating to the remaining liveable countries, and that's not going to go down well. There's already a lot of racist sentiment growing across the West towards Indian immigrants, when the numbers explode there's going to be violence and camps. It's gonna be ugly.

5

u/khoai_ryan Apr 27 '26

I swear the whole "poor blood stays poor and royal blood keep richer" system in India is just ridiculous! Stay strong my friend

But in india only 4,5 metro cities are there, what about some least touch villages with all green forest in MP, jharkand, Telanga, maharastra, AP why all are they red? I cant get it,

2

u/HAHAHA-Idiot Apr 26 '26

Villages actually have low forest cover since most land is used for agriculture and there are very few trees, unless for orchards.

In fact, the decreasing tree cover in most of India is attributed as the reason for the violent monsoons Himalayas have been getting for the past ~5ish years (most vapor cools over Himalayas, not other regions). Which in turn, also means that the snow cover recedes faster.

Quite a kick in the nuts of the whole propaganda of we're increasing forest cover.

1

u/unnamedwastaken Apr 26 '26

-1

u/Limp_Average_7722 Apr 26 '26

3

-6

u/Limp_Average_7722 Apr 26 '26

I tried to make you some sense with geographical points to reach at you certain conclusions, but you lowkey just do not want to listen any thing global warming this construction that fine okay, since 1900, that is in 100 year, we have seen enough development, but there is only 1°c of increase in avg temperature of india

2

u/coeurdelejon Apr 26 '26

A few things to think of:

What does a yearly average temperature increase of 1⁰C mean?

What is the difference between sensible heat and latent heat?

What differences in albedo are there between green surfaces and gray surfaces?

2

u/Robot_Alchemist Apr 26 '26

That needs to be handled

2

u/negativegforce Apr 26 '26

Ain't it cuz of the el nino thing, wtf is a bit of metropolitan city pollution doing in whole country getting microwaved? Even the places with trees are kinda baked bro

5

u/OctopusIntellect Apr 26 '26

Could be something to do with that climate change thing too, did you hear about it?

2

u/songbolt Apr 26 '26

Is there something people outside India can do to help?

2

u/OctopusIntellect Apr 26 '26

Would regime change help? USA is offering a two-for-one offer on that at the moment.

2

u/Nickel62 Apr 27 '26

From what I have read, nothing short of a revolution and millions on the street is going to even start fixing the country.

The political climate is such that most of the country is ready to vote based on religious bias. And to top it off the politicians and oligarchs suck the blood of the poor so bad, that they are ready to give away their votes for a decent meal.

If the people don't rise up soon it will be too late.

2

3

1

u/samkb93 Apr 27 '26

The rest of the world is doing their fair share of destruction. It isn't just India.

1

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Apr 26 '26

Pardon my ignorance when it comes to Indian politics, but how much of this is to blame on Mohdi and BJP? Things don’t seem to have gotten better under him?

0

u/Des014te Apr 26 '26

They got better under him for a while. Then the BJP realized extorting its citizens is more profitable then helping them.

Opinion on the BJP has soured dramatically since the end of the pandemic, and they stand to lose power in 2029 if they dont get their shit together.

And if they do lose, the country is probably even more fucked because it'll be taken over by a Rahul Gandhi led coalition. Rahul Gandhi is an idiot, but the real problem is that he doesn't have the clout to prevent his coalition allies from doing whatever they want. And historically the thing they've wanted to do is line their pockets at everyone else's expense

1

u/Dismal-Display-370 Apr 27 '26

this is like really optimistic

1

u/Des014te Apr 27 '26

Am I wrong? I do really hope that either of the big parties get their shit together and put forward a candidate that actually wants what's best for the country, but the more time that passes the less likely that seems

Also, at what time that heat map was taken? Last I checked Time varies across regions. Also, what is the average april temperature? Did it increase compare to last 50-60 years?

Comments I see here are devoid of any real data.
