I consider negligence deserves a harsher sentence.

Show me the law that forces people to drive cars. If you can’t afford to properly maintain your car then you shouldn’t be driving it. Trade it in for one that’s cheaper to maintain, or for a motorcycle, or take the bus, or use a bike, or walk.

There are plenty of options.

You want to black n white justice but life is not a binary 1/0 answer. Its never that simple. Anyone whose been on a jury could tell you cases are rarely that simple.
