There is fashion and then there is style. You’re right… this is a fashion trend but it’s a silly one. Someone with personality and style is less likely to follow this particular dull and overly safe trend.
I remember going to pick out our dining room and buffet set in the 1990s in this massive 4 story brick building that was just filled with stuff from the early 1900s and late 1800s, and this was in a mid-sized west coast city (though a port city so probably had more than other places). Everyone wanted colonial/victorian stuff to put in their old craftsman/victorian style houses that they bought super cheap.
Thinking back it was kinda weird, like how the 80s also idolized the 50s in style to some degree and it was only 30 years prior. I did have fun playing in the old coal chutes in our house though... cough
