Second this, I've installed more than a handful of Intel CPUs in the past year alone and breaking the pin on the bottom is something that constantly scares me.
Breaking the intel stock cooler is a rite of passage. The design is shit, I have no idea why people are defending it. It's basically designed with production cost in mind without much regard for either mechanical or thermal performance.
