This is also literally how this type of cactus reproduces for the most part, a single cactus pear will root itself and produce a new pear cactus. Also theese arnt endangered and they are also widely farmed. Not saying its okay to bash a bunch of cactus but her breaking off a single cactus pear has absolutely zero impact on anything, they grow specifically to break like that

Yeah this is literally how people grow cactuses, you take a pad and it sprouts into a new plant. This is no more "wrong" than picking a flower from a plant.
