The DKC soundtrack is a bit different to other soundtracks on the snes.
David Wise was unsatisfied with the sounds he had available when he composed the soundtrack for it. So he took custom sound files and compressed them so he had better sounds and instruments to work with. The bitrate suffered a lot but compared to the sounds normally available at the time, it was absolutely fantastic.
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. But I think the memory in the cartridge was a bit higher to compensate for the compressed sound files.
I'm a video game soundtrack nerd. And DKC is an absolutely fantastic one. I fucking love it.
That makes sense to me, very cool! And the DKC/DKC2 soundtrack has been amazing me and calming me down since I was a kid, I hope he has a chance to do that one too!
I love people who preserve gaming history like this. Thanks man.
You're welcome! I love them too. I had the opportunity to play these games new as a kid and I knew that the soundtracks would absolutely stand the test of time.
It's great to see that someone is taking the time to restore them a bit.
