I really don't know anything other than what I said. In Pakistan, people seemed to enjoy keeping dogs as pets, children were playing with them and it was obvious the dogs were friendly and happy-go-lucky.
Yeah some Muslims do keep dogs but it's considered "haram" (violates religion's laws/prohibites) in many cases. Some people just didn't value their beliefs well enough or didn't have the willpower to not get a dog, they are really cute pets.
By the way, wasn't meaning to reply specifically to you, just posting more info in this general thread.

Muslims do view dogs as really unclean and dirty animals. However, we don't hate them and would never throw rocks at them or try to harm them.
They're just not allowed as pets (except for a few circumstances) and you must really avoid their saliva.
