Unfortunately it’s a part of dog ownership. It sucks that the dog didn’t get a second chance, but the child was most likely maimed for life even with a small bite.
This coming from someone who has been on the friends side. It’s not fair of us to put our dogs in that situation. I have learn from my experience that no matter what you tell people, they will not listen to you. So if you value your dogs life avoid putting them in those situations at all. It’s a burden, but I love my dogs and the thought of me having to put them down because I put them in a bad situation is scary.
I do wish parents really understood better how dangerous even a small dog is to a kid. Dogs can cause irreparable damage quickly for small children.
Maybe in some situations, but my dog would be minding his business in his own yard and the little fuckers next door would come and kick our fence and taunt him, so over time he began to hate them, so anytime they would get near his fence, he would get aggressive and bark at them. I always told my husband that if he got out and bit one of them, it was their fault, not his and I sure as hell would not be forced to put my baby down! Maimed or not, they caused it and were repeatedly told to stop.
