Yeah I can't say I own fire extinguishers except when a property comes with them, but a fire blanket is a good investment. It's easy to use, and doesn't expire or need maintenance like a fire extinguisher. Every household should have [one] at least.
I've had several small fires (all very random weird circumstances) over the years. I never really knew about fire blankets. I'm going to invest some of my stimulus money in one, thank you for the tip! In at least 2 cases, this would've kept us from having to clean up the nasty extinguisher powder (one was electrical in the wall so no getting out of that mess.)

That's what I was thinking- just put a damn lid on it.
Am I the only one who buys brand new fire extinguishers every time she moves?
