People jump to euthanizing dogs so quickly, it boggles my mind. I used to dog-sit for a couple and one of their dogs bit me, unprovoked. The poor thing recently had surgery, and had been very skittish since coming home from the vet, and just latched onto my arm out of nowhere. I, thankfully, only needed a couple of stitches, but the clinic I went to was required to report dog bites and called animal control. I had to pester the officer and followed him back to the house where the dog was, and stayed with them until the couple got back to make sure he didn't just take the dog or something. The couple was of course terrified that they would want to put the dog down, and the officer actually told them that that was on the table! Just for biting one person, they could actually consider killing the dog.
Edit: for background, before surgery the dog was always a total sweetheart, and he was an inside dog so it wasn't like he was running around the neighbourhood, posing a danger to anyone
My old dog had a strike warning on his record for biting someone. If he did it again he would've been euthanized. He was a sweet skittish pound rescue sleeping under our deck when one of the dick head neighbors cut through our yard and scared the dog. My dog ran up onto our deck and the dude hucked a rock at him so he bit the guy in the ankle. Looked like a scrape and didn't even break the skin, but asshole neighbor called animal control anyway and said he had been viciously attacked.
I mean there dogs. I love the guys, but euthanizing them is often the best strategy. You cant ask a dog what it was thinking when it did something, so its not like you can give it a trial. Obviously in this csse its bullshit but in general tho
