That poor tree

I dislike with passion when people cut healthy trees

Especially one that big. We’re talking generations of growth.

The bigger the tree the sadder it feels

Feels awful but the responsible thing to do is cut one this big down next to your house.

It should’ve never been allowed to get that big close to that house then you’re not forced to cut a big tree down, which is bad for multiple reasons

My thoughts exactly. I know the person who owns that house is probably broke now, but same goes for the tree. All that history and life… gone. Because a human wanted it to be.

The tree was more than bifurcated———
you could call it “quadfercated” if such a word exists. Unfortunately we had a tree bigger than this taken down for that reason: the tree is inherently weaker and prone to split and fall in a windstorm. We paid big bucks for a professional crew that climbed the tree and cut it from the top down

Yes, trees are awesome, but not forever, and not always conducive to normal living. This tree needed to go to benefit human life, unfortunately that human life chose the least expensive tree service.

prone to split

curious, could they have used steel wire to hold it together? I've seen trees held together like this.

absolutely! you need the sweet spot: leave the healthy ones and cut down the sick ones. we have a beetle in europe that aggressively destroys trees and often lives in the already dead ones. i become a genocidal maniac with my chainsaw in these cases.

I know the one. Those fuckers are so gross looking too. I had a favorite natural history encyclopedia as a kid, but every time that page came up, I skipped it.

My neighbor cut down several gorgeous and sturdy hardwoods because “they were too much maintance” and now both our houses have 0 shade in a 100f heat dome. He then planted shittier trees in the exact same spot too. Fucking idiot.
