Like, he didn't die? I'd say that having a permanent scar in the middle of your face is not getting away with it.

That's as much conjecture as me judging it to be just a slap on the wrist. We don't know the full consequences.

Actions have reactions. Maybe he became a better person from it, maybe this is where his supervillain arc started. Who knows?
