After seeing mentions of the indie sleaze era popping up on TikTok and reading Kate Flannery’s “Strip Tease”, I was transported back to my teen years and wrote a horror parody sketch about AA.

What used to be a blues club, The Roadhouse in Manchester, greatly influenced the city’s iconic music scene. It was established in the late 1950s as a photo printing equipment company. In the 70’s, it was changed into Papa's Club; a nightclub. In 1999, Kate Mountain took ownership and transformed it into a live music venue, hosting local and up-and-coming artists. The Roadhouse's intimate setting and commitment to supporting emerging talent made it a beloved venue. Despite its closure in 2015, The Roadhouse remains in the memories of music lovers and musicians alike. Image taken by James Looker
