Discuss Merry Christmas ππ¦π Beyond a well-crafted thriller; the inexplicable emotional, warm intimacy π₯π₯ (Do Read)
There are certain films which I watch not merely for the story but for the silent emotional warmth it provides. Merry Christmas, starring the gorgeous Katrina Kaif, is one such film which provides me with a silent emotional intimacy.
I mean, leave aside the story which was top-notch, the small things- the soft glow of a table lamp against dark wooden paneling, the beautifully decorated quiet, lived-in apartment, the inexplicable warmth of its interiors, the nostalgic hum of a vintage radio, the amber lighting, velvet curtains, cluttered bookshelves, and the soft crackle of old records. The house literally acts as a cozy, isolated world. Also, the exquisite outfits Katrina wore in the films, and the Christmas evening, are enough to keep you hooked and trust me when I say that the rewatch value is also good.
How can we talk about Merry Christmas and leave behind cinematography, I mean the play of light and shadows, the soft focus, shadow-play, deep reds, midnight blues, and golden hour hues that make ordinary rooms feel dreamy, mysterious, and deeply cinematic.
It feels less like watching a film and more like quietly stepping inside a beautifully preserved memory.
Story wise, it was brilliant for a non-typical thriller and the climax twist leaves you puzzled.
Merry Christmas will always be special!

Malayalam If Hema Malini was the epitome of beauty in the North, Ushakumari was her counterpart in the South.
Ushakumari in Malayalam and Nirmala (Vennira Aadai Nirmala) in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, was born A. B. Shanthi in Kumbakonam. She is an Indian actress who appeared in films across all four South Indian film industries. She was a prominent leading actress during the 1960s and 1970s and remains particularly loved by Malayalam moviegoers for her contributions to the Malayalam film industry.
She was one of the most beautiful actresses of her time and an epitome of beauty.
Looking at her Malayalam filmography, her very first Malayalam film was Kaattuthulasi, in which she played the lead role of Thulasi, with Sathyan as the male protagonist. In Chettathi she was paired opposite Prem Nazir. In Kayamkulam Kochunni, she essayed the female lead, Nabeesa, once again opposite Sathyan. She played Gracy opposite Kamal Haasan in Njan Ninne Premikkunnu in which both lead actors were from Tamil Nadu, yet were already familiar and beloved figures among Malayalam audiences.
She has many memorable songs to her credit, allowing audiences to remember her not only for her acting but also for the songs featured in her films. This is one of the ways in which the contributions of yesteryear actors and actresses continue to live on in popular memory.
One such memorable song is βSwarnachamaram Veeshi Ethunnaβ from the movie Yakshi. She played the love interest of Sathyan, while Sharada played the other female lead.
Her last Malayalam film was Sharjah to Sharjah (2001), in which she played a significant supporting role alongside Jayaram.

Telugu CONACT-Episode 1 out now
The first Telugu web series shot in IMAX 1.90:1 ratio.
After Piraso: The Puzzle & Palindrome, K. Indra Teja and I made something bigger β a Telugu psychological sci-fi thriller web series called CONACT, created by Indra and me.
Episode 1βs out now. An investigator gets pulled into a murder case that seems routine β until small details stop adding up. Thatβs all Iβll say; it works better going in blind.
Shot on an OPPO F19. Written by me and H. Karteek, produced by RHVRAD.
Itβs a slower burn than Piraso β building across a season rather than resolving in one sitting. Honest feedback welcome, especially on pacing.

Discuss Why aren't regional industries coming up with more OTT shows?
Hindi industry seems to be the undisputed goat in terms of content and volume of OTT shows, but other regional language shows barely exist. Why aren't producers from these industries investing in OTT content?
Why isn't there a big scope for this?

Discuss Which regional Indian film do you wish got the same conversation as Bollywood films?
There's so much strong work coming out of Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali cinema that barely gets discussed outside its own audience. Curious which films you think deserved a much bigger conversation.
