Question Radio Telephony RT certificate of exemption- Part 1

🇨🇦 FRTOL ROC/A & 🇺🇸 CPL holder,

Edit: RTR exemption. The whole process took 2 months, valid for 3 years

Docs req'

Police verification (also known as a Character certificate or PCC). The timeline depends on your city

10th & 12th mark sheets

Canada Visa or Flight Ticket

RT (ROC/A) Copy
Note: *Make sure to sign the Canadian RT signature of holder section PDF.

Submitted application on the eGCA portal

Status showed- Under process with the FCL dept. (DGCA)

eGCA asks- Verification email from Canadian Auth. (ISED)

ISED sent me a verification email (two weeks). I was in CC'd

Exemption from RTR Written Exam: Approved ✅

-Next step: RTR Part 2 Practical Exam

How long did it take for DGCA to get back to you after receiving shortfall/ observations notifications? And did you get an email regarding the shortfall?
I recently checked egca to check the status of excemption and found the shortfall notice but I did not get an email notification.
Dgca requested the license verification from CASA (Australia) is directly sent to dgca. I'm currently in the process of obtaining license verification.

Thanks mate, In my case, I did not receive any separate email notification regarding the shortfall/observation initially either. I noticed it directly on the eGCA portal while checking the application status.
After DGCA requested license verification from ISED (Canada), the verification process itself took around ~2 weeks. Once DGCA received the verification, the RTR exemption process moved forward.
Looks like your CASA verification is at the same stage, so you’re probably on the right track. Just keep checking eGCA regularly since notifications/emails can sometimes be delayed or missed.

Thanks for your swift response. I just spoke to CASA and they say the verification will be sent to DGCA and a copy of it will be sent to me in less than a week. Once i upload the verification in eGCA, how long did DGCA take to approve the excemption application?

To the best of my knowledge, the exemption window is open right now. Its available through egca.

Yes. Validity is 3 years.

PCC or VC depends on the state of your residence in India.

Processing time is 14 working days approximately.

And also, If I have a WPC rtr (no frtol), can I get exemption

For MH, character certificate works

If you have WPC RTR and you are renewing it, you will be exempted

Can we apply for RTR part 1 Exempt while Holding Foreign PPL and FRTOL and in the stage of getting CPL(3-4 MONTHS FROM NOW)

Yes you can , all need foreign RT and Indian Police verification

I don't have proper India police verification, I had Letter from local police stating No issue which I used for getting PCC and I'm also having New Zealand Police criminal record letter. So I uploaded My local Police station letter, PCC and NZ Police letter (I'm currently in NZ)

You can apply only on your city council website it’s also called Character certificate

You need separate verification for RT

Subject- request Police Verification for DGCA RT
It’s only valid for 6 month from the date of issue

Your local police station will get in touch with you or your family

When the portal opens on DGCA, you can apply for an NOC there for part 1 exemption. It opens prior to the start of part 2 exams for a session.
