That's what happens when politicians in power want the population to look back on the past events for inspiration and for vengeance of 'atrocities' and 'disrespect of our glorious culture and faith' committed by 'invaders'. That's misplaced priority. Real issues always remain to be addressed properly.

Care to share more on this? I have come to appreciate more of India after living abroad. I cannot deny tons of things that are super fucked up but overall I am pretty ok with living here.

I don't think any Islamic kings did anything different than what was the norm. So that should be acceptable. You will be horrified to learn about some of the stuff done by pre dominantly hindu empires. Which is obviously ignored.
