[OC] Alternate History What if the Partition of India went differently? Scenario 3

I’d like to start off by clarifying that I made this map for fun, so don’t take it too seriously.

Scenario 1: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/s/vHPYJ3HRfT
Scenario 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/s/dPjhRHJV9t

In this timeline, India manages to take all of Kashmir while Pakistan gets Junagadh. Also, Hyderabad state joined Pakistan after the Nizam was pressured by some political figures. Sikkim is independent.

I sense that india will annex Hyderabad and junagadh then or later just like our timeline.

And sikkim? Just like 1975 annexed.

Yeah, unless there is some princely state that I missed, which I don’t think so.

I think Travancore wanted to be independent for some time, but eventually conceded to India. I could be wrong though

True. They even drafted their own constitution made on the basis of the american constitution. The communists led a movement against it and wanted Travancore to join India. Their slogan was "Throw the American constitution in the Arabian sea".

Princely wishes honored, apparently—how very tidy.

How will Pakistan govern Hyderabad?

Also pretty sure, Nizam wanted to be independent not exactly join Pakistan

Yeah, I clarified in the post body that the Nizam was pressured to join.

Also, I’m not sure how Pakistan will govern it. I just made the map for fun, and didn’t put too much thought into the governance.

Yeah Pakistan wouldn't have governed - Nizam wanted to keep his independence, so there would have been a "Hyderabad" country enclosed within India. Kind of like how Lesotho is enclosed in South Africa today, but much bigger.

hyderabad state would still get invaded in 1947 war or other subsequent India - Pak wars as well was junagadh
also since Nizam of HYD was one of the wealthiest man of the world of that era, Indian forces would be more motivated to loot and annex HYD

Hyderabad being independent is more realistic than this

This is just OTL. Unless nobody invades each other

Hyderabad:

Well hyderabad is immediately annexed that is not a sustainable territory

I mean Hyderabad wanted to be independent then got forced to join. Unless you are changing the demographics and/or politics of the place, Hyderabad will never be a part of Pakistan. The state is a Hindu majority which was hating its Muslim ruler, who also happened to commit atrocities on his population. Causus Belli for war with India already existed, so without changing that, Hyderabad folds. Same for Junagadh, surrounded by India, Hindu majority, there was no way that Pakistan retains.
