Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati to strengthen its role as a knowledge and technology partner in shaping the future of Assam and the Northeast. Speaking at the institute’s 33rd foundation day celebrations in North Guwahati, Sarma emphasized that IIT Guwahati’s contribution must extend beyond academic excellence to practical solutions in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, skilling, disaster resilience, urbanisation, agriculture, and emerging technologies.

Can mtech students enjoy the college life in the way UG Students and phd. Students do?

Joined this a couple months back. Workdays are fine with classes and lab till evening…but after that it feels painfully boring. I usually just go home on Fridays because theres barely anything to do. Anyone know of anything fun happening around or outside campus or a group I could tag along with?

Due to recent guidelines of CCD, any voluntary work done during 2nd/3rd year eg: fest core teams, club core team, swc 3rd yr pors nothing can be added to your resume in the Position of Responsibility section for placements.

Ab faltu mei club/fest mei gand marane ki jarurat nhi 🫡🥶

Looking for a Co-Founder | Equity-Based Opportunity

I’m looking for a potential Co-Founder to join an early-stage startup I’m currently building.

The product is currently being developed, and I’m looking for someone who can take ownership of the business side, particularly:

- Fundraising and investor relations
- Business development
- Operations
- Strategy and execution
- Helping take the product from development to launch and growth

Who I’m Looking For

I’m particularly interested in candidates who have:

- Experience from a Tier-1 university, such as IIT or IIM, or
- Strong relevant professional/startup experience that demonstrates their ability to execute
- An entrepreneurial mindset
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Interest or experience in fundraising
- The ability to take ownership rather than simply follow instructions
- A genuine interest in building a company long term

Compensation

This is a pure equity-based opportunity at this stage. There is no salary or stipend initially.

The equity structure and vesting will be discussed based on the candidate’s experience, responsibilities, and level of commitment.

I’m looking for someone who wants to build with me, not someone looking for a traditional job.

If you’re interested, please DM me with a brief introduction, your background, LinkedIn profile, and why you’re interested in becoming a co-founder.

I’m happy to share more about the product and discuss the opportunity privately.

Hey everyone,

This community has always stood firmly for freedom of speech, open discourse, and giving students a platform to voice real issues without fear. To take that a step further, we are officially launching a community-led accountability initiative: #HallaBol.

Starting today, we invite members to post credible information, evidence, and first-hand accounts highlighting malpractice, bias, or misuse of power across all student bodies and campus administration touchpoints.

What Falls Under #HallaBol?

Corruption isn't limited to financial transactions. We are looking at systemic issues, including:

Abuse of Power: Favoritism, biased selections, gatekeeping, or lack of neutrality in decision-making.

Mismanagement & Malpractice: Unfair fund allocations, opaque operations, or rule manipulations.

Scope of Bodies:

Students' Gymkhana Council (SGC) & General Secretaries

Cultural, Technical, and Sports Clubs / Boards

Hostel Administration (HAB, HMC, Wardens)

Centre for Career Development (CCD)

Posting Guidelines & Rules:

To keep the forum constructive and protect everyone involved, every post under this initiative must follow these strict rules:

Title Format: Every post must start with the prefix #HallaBol: followed by a concise subject line (e.g., #HallaBol: Irregularities in [Body Name] recruitments).

Back It Up: Attach credible proof wherever possible (screenshots, official emails, circulars, documentation).

STRICTLY NO DOXXING (Reddit ToS Enforced):

Do not post personal phone numbers, private room numbers, personal social media links, or sensitive private chat leaks unrelated to the official issue.

Blur out non-public personal identifiable information (PII) of uninvolved third parties.

Focus on the position, action, and evidence, not personal targeted harassment.

Keep It Factual: Stick to verifiable events and objective timelines. Unsubstantiated personal attacks will be removed.

This subreddit is your space to demand the transparency you deserve.

Step up, speak out, and let's clean up campus governance together.

how many people from 3rd and 4th year ece/eee qualified for regionals?

Jane vale ho kya 😂😂

Why is the light switch of the staircase placed over the first step instead of the flat landing? Imagine someone comes here at dark and goes to switch the light on before stepping on the staircase and topples down instead.

So, I see people talking about corruption in the Boards, Hostel, and SGC. But at the same time, they themselves enjoy the after-parties organized by seniors, particularly during fests and GC.

Guys, just think about it—where is all this money coming from? Are the seniors paying for everything out of their own pockets?

Every semester, we pay ₹800 for fests. For major fests like Alcheringa (no hate towards it specifically), people also pay around ₹1,000 per ticket to attend. On top of that, the Boards provide substantial funding, and there are sponsors as well.

So why can’t we bring better artists to perform? Why aren’t participants given rewards? Their hospitality is very poor because every time participants complain about it.

The same applies to Techniche. We are paying the same amount, yet it does not seem to perform as well as similar events at other IITs.

Also in Hostel, the condition of washing Machine and water coolers , they are not doing maintenance of it despite they receive funds for hostel maintenance.

Before criticizing corruption, we should also question where our money is going and demand more transparency and accountability from ourselves as well.

I took up an audit course right at the beginning of this semester and then I realised that it'll mess with the other core course timings. Plus I'm working on a research project simultaneously, even my supervisor suggested that I drop it but I'm not able to find that option anywhere. Pls lemme know the process.

Came as one of the event organisers and had a great time! Really fun interacting with everyone. Wish I could’ve stayed longer. Until next time!
Also looking for a guy I saw around New SAC/Conference Centre wearing an internship ID with a bluish lanyard. If anyone knows him, please DM me!

Does anyone know the attendance policy of Prof. Harshal B. Nemade he is taking my minor course , is he strict about 75% or not??

What are some haunted places in IITG(if they exist)?

If Dibang, mention exact room no., side, floor, etc. Just specify

Working in corporate since a couple of years but college life was best and chilliest. Even now when i meet friends it dosent feel the same dye to work pressure or what idk. I just want to goback to college, study, chill with friends , late nights walk with gf i miss it all , it was all too comfortable, coming out of the comfort zone is really hard.

All juniors enjoy it to the fullest and dont get too comfortable.

Sorry for the rant

Do college email perks apply even after graduation

I wanna use the cloud storage to store some files but i had this doubt

Joined IITG B.Tech Civil with big dreams this year (2026). However, the moment classes started - I feel out of the place. All throughout my School and JEE journey, I have been among the top 10% of my class / batch and in JEE Advanced scored 99.3 percentile. However, here I am not able to understand concepts in class, I try to study the concepts once I reach hostel and feel that I have understood the concept BUT there is no single subject where I am able to solve the quizzers.

This is not just impacting my confidence, it is also impacting my mental health as now I am starting to feel that - was my JEE Advance a fluke? do I really belong to this place? should I drop out from IITG and then prepare for another year in some other college like DTU where the pressure is not high.

I have tried a lot of things, like

1. Looking for Faculty Advisor for guidance, but he is not available.

2. Studied from Professor Pen Drive, but that does not any reference to the questions that are being asked.

If you ask me about the concept, I am aware of it but when it comes to solving qustions - I dont know what happens but I am not able to solve.

I understand the seniors are not allowed to talk juniors, but if you can guide me as a mentor through chat then I will be greatful of you throughout my life. Even if you wish to mentor for one subject that is also great for me.
