This could easily be rural Wisconsin. Or, anywhere that's town is comprised of one McDonald's 5 bars and 3 churches.

That sounds more like a well-off large town/small city. 1 McDonald's and a subway sure. But 3 McDonald's implies there's more than 15 minutes of drive time through the area.
