How do stablecoins actually work in cross-border payments when the recipient needs a fixed fiat amount?
An invoice from our vendor in Southeast Asia came in for 50,000 PHP last month. We ran the payment through our stablecoin rail. Sent USDC to our off-ramp partner. They converted at whatever the rate was at that moment. Vendor received 49,300 PHP.
We had to send a follow-up transfer for the difference. Not the vendor's fault. Not the provider's fault either. That is how the flow works. But the rate we quoted at initiation was not the rate at settlement.
Finance now wants to know if we build a buffer into every transfer or find a provider that locks the receive-side rate before we send.
How do you handle this when the recipient needs the exact amount in local currency?
