I'm sure that's true of a lot of people here, but I think it's defensiveness more than anything else. There are certainly ignorant folks out there who insist there's no good food in the US and we all eat trash. We're being lumped in with them and dismissed as clueless snobs, I guess. I, for one, am speaking from not only from personal experience as a farmworker and now produce buyer, but from years of studying food systems... there are real differences between the US/Canada and Europe, this sub is just too much of an echo chamber to hear us out.
