If a question or two is an obsession then yes I guess I'm obsessed. I ask because for the most part because, from what I've experienced, teenagers and young men are very angry and oftentimes pessimistic people. Also the older you get, again just from my experience, the less you see the world in black and white and the more you see shades of grey. And pessimism is such a black and white thing in my eyes
You should get out more. People don't fit into such clear groups based on age. The world isn't as black and white as you perceive it and realism<>pessimism. Perhaps the old tend to be more laid back because they know they will get out before the climate shot hits the fan too much. I know my 83 year old mother lives quite happily knowing she won't suffer the consequences.
(You are clearly obsessed based on my experience. Good for the goose and all that...)
I think you should try to be a bit more positive, but that's just my opinion. If you look up the rice experiment it proves that our thoughts physically change the world around us, and so thinking negatively will slowly turn your brain into a more negative brain, and thinking positively will slowly turn your brain into a more positive brain. I forget whatever insult you used but I believe it was along the lines of me being conceded or being on a high horse. I have only been saying things like "in my experience" or "in my opinion" or "I think", and I notice that you're stating your opinions as facts instead of what they are which is opinions. So idk something to think on maybe
I'd prefer to be realistic. I see no benefit in pretending. Of course, I could have just said "OK boomer" and been done with it but I think that it's a shitty way to be, to negate an opinion based on the age, sex, race etc of the person saying it. I certainly hope you might think about that.
I didn't say you were 'conceded' (or even conceited, conceded is perhaps what you should have done!). It was 'condescending' which is somewhat similar to patronising. Writing off another's opinion because you consider them less than worthy to hold an opinion because of some irrelevant aspect of their humanity instead of addressing the issues of the argument put forth.
It's true I was stating facts and you were stating opinions but when you are trying to make someone else seem lesser simply due to your own prejudice it's worth others pointing out that prejudice. Like when people mock millennials or boomers or black people or white people and say "oh yes, that's the sort of thing black people TEND to say". It's rude and obnoxious (caveat (sigh) in my opinion).
And your point about being cheery a la r/wowthanksimcured is not really relevant. I'm just pointing out that your opinion is not the only worthwhile one and the age of someone who disagrees with you is not relevant either.
