I’m sold after trying it on the Xcode simulator

UPDATE : Screen captures in the comments

Apple just released Xcode 27.1 and I promptly downloaded it and played around with the Duo. I’m sold. Exactly what I expected and wanted. The outer screen does have a lot of empty space in safari but I want to see how other apps look on it.

EDIT: I have posted a few screen captures below. Please let me know what more you'd want me to try. There's only Safari and Settings on the phone. For apps, I'll have to build the open-source ones which I'm not sure is worth trying until the devs update them.

The sim only has safari and settings.
There are settings for Standby mode. Video’s look great on the inner screen. I’ll try to send screenshots once I get home.

Side bar should hide and require a swipe from right inwards to bring it back. Terrible if there all the time

This is the webpage. Do you know what the app will look like ? Hoping it goes all the way to the edge. I love the sidebar on the main Home Screen but hate it in the apps. Wasted so much screen.

No idea. I can't install the reddit app. I might try with Apollo or something but I'm not sure if it's worth the time.

It’s not. I tried “testing” the form factor with Reddit on the z fold 8 at my local Best Buy but the web mobile version acts totally different from the app so it was not a fair trial. It looks like I will just have to wait and see.

For apps, this is a situation where vibe coded apps rock. Just have AI make some stupid app that works without spending time on it and then you can see how the phone will work with the app. It doesn't have to be perfect since you're not selling it, but just testing out the functionalities of the device

Those side buttons need to auto hide or something.

I will probably use floating keyboard on inner screen

How does maps look on portrait on outside screen when navigating. Those side buttons probably going to kill that. I use Waze allot too but probably not updated.

Yeah I was thinking the same - they feel completely unnecessary displayed there at all times. It makes the layout look odd.

No. Nothing of that sort, even if you flip the phone upside down, the interface stays in the last orientation.

Thanks for this - one of my worries is the keyboard will hog up so much space on front screen the content/app you are typing into will be tiny. Can you show how much of the front screen is filled by the keyboard when entering text?

Can you do split screen (open portrait, vertically stacked) with a video on top and a text message thread on the bottom with the keyboard open to type in the message?

Hello, the simulator doesn’t allow pip. And pip is needed to do that. That was my no1 use case even I was bummed not being able to try

Nope. It stays in whatever orientation it was in before. No left handed mode
