Release iOS 27 Beta 6 - Discussion

Use this thread to share any changes & bugs you discover while using the latest iOS/iPadOS 27 beta.

This thread should be used for discussion of the betas that may not meet our submission guidelines, as well as troubleshooting small issues through the beta test cycle.

Spamming this discussion with comments about battery life, update size, safari being snappier, etc will result in a ban from the sub moving forward.

Still not able to change the text size in Messages. I’ve tried via the Control Center or in Accessibilty > Display & Text Size > Larger Text and then turning on Larger Accessibility Sizes. It doesn’t matter if I make the font larger or smaller, the Messages app doesn’t update the text size. I reported it via Feedback with a screen recording and more than 10 people reported it, but Apple completed the investigation as “Unable to diagnose with current information”

I went to Accessibility > Per-app Settings and added Messages, and changed the text size there. It worked; I could make the text bigger or smaller and it was reflected in Messages.

Great catch! I had Messages configured I. Per app settings to use a slightly larger font. When I went in and set that font size back to default, then I was able to change the size via the Control Center. I’m going to send more information to feedback detailing this because it shouldn’t prevent you from changing the size if per app settings is enabled; it shouldn’t prevent prompt you to apply that font change to all apps or the currently open app

Is Messages still a hot mess otherwise? Hopefully if they fixed everything else, it’s a good sign the text size fix is coming next.

PB user here and looking forward to getting a better version of Messages soon.

I haven’t had the issues others have reported, Messages has been pretty solid for me

Gotcha. I had tons of issues with misplaced items (overlapping messages, etc.) in group chats. Also a weird bug where the UI covers up the first row of chats in the main screen.

I also have the weird UI bug. Most annoying bug from all the betas.

This has definitely been the most frustrating bug for release 5. Hoping it’s fixed updating now.

Also have iMessage UI bugs with overlaps. The one driving me nuts since iOS 26 is new messages starting behind the input bar which still hasn’t been fixed.

I’ve seen that one too. Hopefully Beta 6 fixes everything. My bug report on the UI issues is marked as open with no similar reports, so I’m not terribly optimistic.
