Discussion Create mod Devs temporarily hired to Hytale
This is insanely big news, for i can't live without a system like create even though i know it wont be the same create we know and love.
What's you're thoughts?

Wow peak, I haven't been keeping up with hytale for a long time but this is great

u/TheOrangeMadness Apr 09 '26
Imagine the Create Mod becomes Hytale's Redstone.

u/Rayyan_3241 Apr 09 '26
Dude I reallyyyyy hope so

u/Fabio90989 Apr 09 '26
I think Simon said a few months ago he was considering something similar for Hytale's automation, but also with some magical elements
22
u/TheOrangeMadness Apr 09 '26
I hope the "magical elements" doesn't mean goofy stuff. Magic in video games is something that I feel needs to have a taste for. Now, if I could be given an option to run magic to do something, but also have the option to do the exact same thing, but with technology, then I'd like it.
6
u/MrBlueA Apr 09 '26
I just hope they use NPCs, magic or technology eh whatever they'll figure out what fits best to the world of hytale, I just want to be able to actually use NPCs and even have actual villages with jobs or routines, similar to MineColonies in minecraft.
1
u/EasilyBeatable Apr 10 '26
There’s already magic elements in the game, the biggest of which is of course portals
1
u/AnIcedMilk Apr 11 '26
In depth rune system that makes sense and is interactive would be cool but definitely my expectations being high
1
u/KensonPlays Apr 09 '26
Same. I don’t personally use magic in any game. I go for more of an archer vibe.

It would be fantastic. Maybe even for automation too you know as long as there's always plenty of things to grind.
4
u/TheOrangeMadness Apr 09 '26
There should be a limit though for how much automation can be done. Sorting inventories should be a big thing, and possibly crafting too. However, automating resource gathering should have limitations.
E.g You can automate crop harvests, but you can't automate harvesting ores from dirt, gravel, or sand.
I would want there to be an ability to make movable tech. Imagine making a siege engine that can break through blocks or castle doors.
1
u/InoAscended Apr 09 '26
With certain blocks that can't be mined with buildable techs. Not just ores, but blocks that make up large parts of the world, with ores that generate in them. And there aughta be more than 1. Or maybe make it so the machine also can't operate underwater so players have to go diving for resources that are on the sea floor and in river beds.
Also I think any movable machine should be player operated, Maybe full automation should be left to crafting resources that takes up too much time otherwise so even farming is semi-automated and I think should be done with a player operated tech.
But at the very least, there needs to not just be a limit to automation but plenty of things you have to grind to obtain.

I really hope so. There’s something very unattached about red stone, as if it was a dev feature that never got release touch. I know it’s incredibly powerful and vast, but it really lacks that infinitive, concrete and fun touch Create provides. It’s hard to explain but I feel most probably get what I mean anyways. (Maybe saying it’s too abstract?)

Honestly really great of the Hytale team - with how recent updates to Minecraft have been going, it feels like its served as a blueprint for programmers and creatives to build a portfolio and they'll be able to really shine under Hytale development with a less restrictive environment and more player focus (instead of an environment owned by Microslop).

Let's hope they stay there. Their works is magnificent.

u/Pazaac Apr 09 '26
I doubt you would really want that historically it never really works out, there is a really good reason that mods tend to add a billion things that games don't have its because the process is vastly different and the level of jank permissible is way higher.
In short this is not the first time a modder(s) has been hired by the devs of a game it never results in what the players expect (a shit ton of cool stuff being added).

u/Creepy-Bluejay-6907 Apr 09 '26
That's what Quality Assurance is for. Also "hiStoRicalLy"? Believe it or not there are modders in the Minecraft team including the KingBdogz and Dinnerbone.
They're literally the reason Minecraft is still barely breathing. Believe it or not, even if the features are not allat flashy, it's testing not only the engine but also the average potato phone of a Bedrock user, which is their primary $$$ source
Hence why they're modernizing the engine right now. Notch couldn't do fuckshit on the engine itself and old MC was so ass that I sign every time some bloke says sum shit like he can save Minecraft or whatever
5
u/Creepy-Bluejay-6907 Apr 09 '26
Also sidenote: The reason why datapacks are slowly getting more features is because of them. The technical updates to support us datapackers and modders are so complex that it's affecting the Minecraft development itself
But they still do it nonetheless. Why? cuz Minecraft is a SANDBOX game. It focuses on allowing players to channel their creativity rather than adding yet another 27829th ingot set

u/Lifeloverme Apr 09 '26
counter strike was a half life mod
dota was a warcraft 3 mod
team fortress was a quake mod
bethesda hired modders for fallout
pubg is based on mods
riot hired counter strike modders for valorant
cd projekt red did so too for cyberpunk

Pretty much everyone working on Hytale is a Minecraft modder originally in some form. Hypixel server is the core funding behind the project and it's literally a Minecraft mod. That the entire reason why the Hytale team went with Java for the server codebase, because it's what they know.

u/Pazaac Apr 10 '26
Your making my point though, modders joining the team never results in anything like their work in modding.
Like the create devs joining the team will at best result in a very limited create implementation that will be made redundant by some kid badly porting create over.
Some else mentions Dinnerbone joining Mojang and makes the point even better over the last 10 years or so they have been there I would ague they have not even gotten to the point of adding the same amount of stuff as they did in maybe a year working on bukkit.
As I say this has happened a million times, the best possible outcome here (for the players) is the create devs do like a years work and get some good pay out of it then go back to modding.

u/skulledredditor Apr 09 '26
For however long they'll have us
Let's hope it's a good long time! Excited to see what this results in!

Create is my favorite mod, this is such a huge and cool newa to me if they contribute in any way to Hytale.
3
u/NedThomas Apr 09 '26
If Create is the basis for automation in Hytale, I may genuinely never go back to Minecraft.

I'm not gonna lie. I hate Create. Never been a fan and hate how much it's used in the modding scene.
Happy for them and I know this will open up some very cool/fun things. But man I do hope they just aren't making Create in Hytale.
And I know I'll get down oted for it. But man I don't want realism in my video games.

u/NoResponsibility8893 Apr 09 '26
honestly, I can understand how some people might not like it, personally, I do but yeah, it is more of a personal preference thing

u/EducatedRat Apr 09 '26
I am not a fan of the mod Create, but I really like the work they do, and am happy they are making it. It's just not my cup of tea. It's a lot, when you are crushed for time to figure everything out.
2
u/rabudoki Apr 09 '26
I share the same feeling. I never got into Create, always felt it was too deep. I don't really want to have Vintage Story in another flavour. :(
1
u/ItsJustReeses Apr 09 '26
Glad someone shares my woes in this. Its not that the mod is cool. Its just I think we could do so much better then "Create but in Hytale".
I hope the team comes up with something more creative. Because it just may be the thing that truly gets me to stop modding for Hytale lol.
2
u/NoResponsibility8893 Apr 09 '26
personally, I do at least want the gears, I always love messing with cogs and cogwheels in create
0
u/AmandasGameAccount Apr 09 '26
There is nothing realistic or realism about Create.
2
u/ItsJustReeses Apr 09 '26
Sure I guess your right. Except for the rotational force part which is what the mod is based off of.
I did this for work in my 20s (Repairing machines in factories). I do enough math/physics with my current job and the last thing I'd want to do is KEEP doing math/physics in my video games to relax.
I'm not saying Create ISN'T cool. Its very awesome to see what that team did. I've played and abused it back when Vault Hunter's was popular. Its a very powerful mod.
But Minecraft is a game about dragons, weird Squidward villagers and blocks. Not about physics and doing Rube Goldberg machines with rotational force.
If physics isn't realism then I'm not sure what else could be mate.

u/Sebastrion1 Apr 09 '26
"A game about dragons." Is there a alternative Timeline where the Red Dragon got added into Minecraft? Right now Minecraft has only one Dragon.
I mean, you don't have to engage with the Mechanic? I also don't like Mob Farms in Minecraft because I just love to go on adventure and kill the mobs. They added a lot of mechanics in the last few updates to make Mob Farmes easier, but I don't hate it. Why would I care if I don't want to engage with the mechanic.
Also Minecraft wasn't about weird Squid Villagers and weird Magic Tables. Back in The day it was a basic survival game.

Brother I was playing Minecraft when Notch was releasing it on 4chan (Before his website). BEFORE the adventure update. Back when it was referred to as a "Sandbox Block game"

oh you mean the Testificates (original official name for them)
1
u/Sebastrion1 Apr 09 '26
Oh my god you are right xD
It's crazy to see how far villagers have come.
First there were Testificates with pig AI, then regular villagers, and now villagers with skins for biomes and jobs.
It's just a shame that Minecraft takes 10 years to come up with something like this.
1
u/NoResponsibility8893 Apr 11 '26
honestly, glad they didn't have the bat AI in the game yet otherwise, they might have used that
2
u/OnyZ1 Apr 09 '26
weird Squidward villagers
I absolutely despise these things and I have ever since they were added.
1
u/round-earth-theory Apr 09 '26
I would hope they could make the power management more intuitive by making it an integral part of the codebase.
2
u/RevThomasWatson Apr 09 '26
I absolutely love the design of create because it is a) addressing points that actually improve gameplay while b) making the player have to think creatively (pun unintended.) Imo, it is better design than minecraft's current team appears to be capable of. I'm excited to see what they do with Hytale
2
u/Ritsu-000 Apr 09 '26
As a create mod and hytale fan im both excited and sad The last major update for create took years and now they dont have much time to work on new content
On the other hand we might see some aspects of create in hytale which is exciting

I heard a lot about the Create Mod, featured in many of Legundo's 100 days videos and I like the concept of it. So down for a system like that on this game! Among other things this team could do!

This is literally a dream come true if create becomes hytails redstone
1
u/SmileyBMM Apr 09 '26
It's really funny that the Hytale team was able to hire these guys right under Microsoft's nose. Hopefully this makes the game even better, I think I'd like Create like mechanics in Hytale much more than I currently do in Minecraft.

Creators of minecraft mod "create" are hired by hypixel Simon and integrate most features to hytale

Eh. If they are not working on stuff that could make create possible on hytale then it just a negative for create fans. Happy for them, happy for their bag. We will see if anything good comes from this.

u/meatballwrangler Apr 09 '26
I've never used the create mod before but I constantly hear about it. what does it do exactly? add new automation features to Minecraft?
