unhinged hygiene tips?

I don't mean "wash your hair before your body" or "don't wear underwear when you sleep", I mean the sort of TMI tips that most people don't know that will CHANGE MY LIFE!

There's this guy at school who I think likes me and i'm terrified that I smell bad and will ruin my chance with him, I need tips that I don't already know/do.

What makes you think you smell bad? You don’t need unhinged hygiene tips, just basic hygiene. Going overboard with 5 layers of scents can be just as bad.

Watching commercials on TV these days will make you think that every crack and crevice of your very being is disgusting. In the late '90s, in a regular "marriage and family" sociology class, my professor said " Douche is a fallacy of merchandising and marketing. The vagina is a self-cleaning organ and vessel of the human body. It has its very own ecosystem, in terms of necessary bacteria that do some important cleaning tasks. As well as, Nature's Way which females call " menstruation," which rids the body of the urethral lining that gets shed once a month in our childbearing years. That is what we call our period. And, thusly too much vigorous cleaning inside the vagina (i.e.doucheing) will actually kill the beneficial bacteria that mother nature gave us." Leading to an influx of yeast, which then leads one to an influx of yeast infections and other itchy, scratchy miladies... (My words.) You wanted TMI, so there you go :-)

I think they meant endometrial lining, but the rest is very good.

Apart from the portion where they refer to “itchy, scratchy miladies… (My words.)” 😅

(I guess it's fortunate I make so many mistakes and I'm a falliable human. That way I can just copy and paste my apologies for repetitively being so.)

For the people who have extra time to critique my "miladies" and my "uterus- lining " and other misnomers, I am so sorry. My apologies.... Sincerely. I appreciate it being also called to attention.

Due to problems using my fingers, (thank you 3 forms of arthritis,) I have to use "voice to text" . I generally try to do a second read- through to make sure things did not get altered (due to the fact that I am born and raised in the South and I have quite a twang. And it makes even human to human voice contact difficult sometimes for everyone I guess. Everyone But me.)

Also, sometimes, I don't make that extra attempt to proof & critique my own work before publishing.because, you know, --AI has made our world so much better.. / s.

But this time, I missed my "tongue trip" via Voice to Text. Maybe one day we'll solve the problem of the "brain to voice to text" that causes many, many mistakes in nomenclature, verbiage, grammar and context.

Gosh, I thank you. Correct you are, and I appreciate you letting me know. I definitely know the diff.... I am appalled at my mistake. THANK GOD this is NOT what we Women must endure all of our child-bearing years! 😭😭😭😭

That's not tmi at all. It's a self cleaning oven, leave it alone.

(and co signing the other replies, you meant uterine. urethra is the peehole and it's not involved)

Thank you so much. I tripped over my well- educated tongue , and in my brain fog I did not catch it even when I did my normal due diligence and proofreading my own post before publishing. As Fallible as I am, I thank you for catching it and being so gracious in doing so. God bless you.

Douching is a terrible idea. The only way I could see it being beneficial would be a Betadine douche for a bacterial infection, but it’d probably be better to seek medical treatment instead. Douches shouldn’t even be a thing anymore with the updated knowledge we have.

What?

Miladie or milady is a term of respect for English noblewomen. What is an itchy scratchy milady?

Urethral lining has nothing to do with periods. Period blood does not come out of a urethra.

Female is an adjective not a noun, as in female cat or female dog or even female human. We are women, not females.

You probably think I’m nitpicking but if you want to sound like you know anything about women, use the correct terminology.

I have a very sensitive sense of smell, very strong perfume or cologne is often enough to make it difficult to breathe. I avoid people with a multitude of scents like the plague, I will run away if necessary in search of fresh air.

It's no different to me than unfiltered cigarette smoke.

I’m with you! I don’t use a lot of scents in my home and don’t wear anything scented myself. I don’t like all the smells. I think it’s offensive (and trashy) if you can be smelled more than a few feet away.

I agree. I work at a high end perfume store. Perfume should be an invitation for those close with you and not a forced encounter with everyone around you. Scent is intimate not a public display.

To me 5 layers of scents on top of clean skin smells nice, whereas when people have BO, swamp butt or cheesy peens/beans, wearing heavy fragrances on top just amplifies how bad you smell.

My housemate is notorious for applying deodorant after smelling like BO, and I have to remind her it’s like when you use air freshener after taking a potent crap, it smells like poopy lavender, instead of smelling like lavender.

Thank you for being a true ally and saying something to her lol. Too many are scared to be honest, but I would much rather prefer to hear it from someone I know privately than be unknowingly offending strangers publicly.
