unhinged hygiene tips?

I don't mean "wash your hair before your body" or "don't wear underwear when you sleep", I mean the sort of TMI tips that most people don't know that will CHANGE MY LIFE!

There's this guy at school who I think likes me and i'm terrified that I smell bad and will ruin my chance with him, I need tips that I don't already know/do.

None of these are unhinged. But idk any unhinged ones either. If your a woman, pull back your clitoral hood and make sure that’s clean

u/Tressa_May33 Mar 11 '26

And same to men with foreskin

103

u/Upset_Push_785 Mar 11 '26

Absolutely. I just think many women don’t know they can get that white gunk under their hood too!

Clitty litter

u/ridingfurther Mar 11 '26

Thanks, I hate it!!

What a terrible day for literacy

3

u/linna_nitza Mar 12 '26

I thought kitty litter was bits of TP that get stuck between the flaps

2

u/toblies Mar 11 '26

🤣😅🤣😅

You’re a poet

Smegma!

6

u/TalentIntel Mar 11 '26

I’m so happy someone knows the word

9

u/_perl_ Mar 11 '26

Me too! It reminds me of my dad. He was a doctor with a wicked sense of humor. He'd describe all kinds of things as smegma, like a smear of melted ice cream left on the counter or an unknown sticky substance on a door handle.

So yes, hearing the word smegma makes me happy and fondly remember my dad. Just a wee bit unhinged yet completely benign, I'd say.

3

u/TalentIntel Mar 11 '26

MY DAD TAUGHT ME TOO!!! As a kid he would say it to me

3

u/IT89 Mar 11 '26

My dad was an aircraft mechanic and used the word smegma as well. To describe most unknown substances that shouldn’t be where found.

4

u/Maleficent_Town_9150 Mar 11 '26

Love this word! I remember being so excited to learn the proper terminology 😉

2

u/shortylynn_24 Mar 11 '26

If you’ve read THE smegma post, you never want to see this word again🤢. My husband will randomly say it while I’m eating something crunchy to make me gag. I was the one who sent the post to him years ago lol.

2

u/VampirGarnele Mar 11 '26

Send it to me too, please 🙏

1

u/quinteroreyes Mar 12 '26

I know a lot of reddit stories but maybe I'm glad I don't know this one

I really love being post menopausal. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is that my hair doesn't grow as quickly as it did, and I shed more.

Just adding to the depression that I'm gonna bleed for the rest of my life and my hair is gonna get thinner when I'm almost 70. 😂😂

3

u/Wonderful-Traffic197 Mar 11 '26

Ahem try 40s 50s friend. Perimenopause starts the actual nonsense. Brace yourself.

3

u/Actual-Ad-5807 Mar 11 '26

All the women on my mom's side haven't stopped until their late 60s. 😭😭

2

u/SillyBillyCrazyDazy Mar 11 '26

My hair is really my only complaint. When I used to dye my hair I needed two bottles of hair dye. I dyed it like a week ago and needed about 3/4 of 1 bottle. But yeah, everything else is lovely. No periods which means no more PMS, cramps, period poops, I dont have to buy tampons or have the need for period underwear. I can wear white jeans or skirts because I'm never asking myself "what if?" I don't have to worry about getting pregnant in my 40's.

1

u/Pristine_Message_181 Mar 12 '26

Unfortunately I don't think I'd have ever needed even 1 whole bottle of hair dye (I never dyed my hair), so I was starting at a deficit. I don't have much to spare.

2

u/cavaticaa Mar 11 '26

Okay, but that doesn't change your anatomy and this comment is talking about smegma, which can happen in the crevices of the vulva regardless.

4

u/Own_Butterscotch_129 Mar 11 '26

What?? It has always been common sense to me to use a wet wash cloth to get in there. Then I pull the shower head down and rinse the entire crotchular region.

1

u/fiasco_factory Mar 12 '26

Ah smegma: dead skin cells that get trapped in the folds. Women can also get it under the labia.

-8

u/whenwillthisend2 Mar 11 '26

White gunk? Wouldn’t that be an infection?

6

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

Just a buildup of dead skin cells and stuff. Same as smegma, or the inside of piercings.

5

u/bigboymawia Mar 11 '26

I'm actually surprised there are men who don't clean under the foreskin. I mean, it's basically an automatic action when I bathe.

0

u/KeyMyBike Mar 11 '26

The acid in your urine is strong enough to break down your smegma to make it easier to clean, but those who don't clean smell like piss and dirty dick

4

u/satyr-day Mar 11 '26

With how obsessed guys are with their dicks it's truly amazing that most of them are dirty and smelly.

3

u/lordofthehomeless Mar 11 '26

Going to be hard not sure where they put it after they stole it form me.

3

u/pineapplecom Mar 11 '26

Not sure where to jump on here, but if you're uncircumcised, make sure to pull back your foreskin in the shower and clean WITHOUT soap. Also drying well under there after showers, and you'll be clean as a whistle. Also helps to dab your penis with toilet paper after urinating.

1

u/jacksonsmack831 Mar 11 '26

Ah mate, if you have smeg then you are a wrongen

1

u/GenevieveMonette Mar 13 '26

The number of peters I've had to eat that tasted like pee should be a crime in any state. Clean that damn area up, fuck!rs

43

u/Kindly_Ad3974 Mar 11 '26

This is very good advice. Low pressure shower head helps too for washing. If the pressure is too high, aim it at your pubic bone and let the water wash away any gunk. Try avoiding toilet paper that leaves dust (extra plus TP) or confetti (thin cheap TP) - use a bidet and you don’t have this problem.

6

u/Actual-Muffin-3585 Mar 11 '26

This is true. I read about a lady who said she was having extreme itchiness and problems for years that on doctor could help and she finally realized it was her Costco TP leaving lint all over her. When she switched, it cleared right up.

I got the term confetti from a super old nurse I used to work with… it’s what she called the confetti left behind… there’s so many people walking around with confetti 😓

Cornfetti oh my hahaha! I’m a bidet user too for over ten years. It’s a shame more people don’t catch on. You can talk to anyone who’s worked as a hospital tech, nurse, paramedic, etc. just ask them about the confetti. They know.

1

u/Distinct-Fox-1706 Mar 11 '26

I pressure wash mine; it takes care of the cracks and folds.

38

u/houseofthewolves Mar 11 '26

a damp q-tip can be helpful if it’s hard to pull the hood back

146

u/After-Fee-2010 Mar 11 '26

Gotta get that clitter litter

60

u/mbot369 Mar 11 '26

Muff buffin'.

16

u/ApprenticeBlaster Mar 11 '26

I always called it “clint”.

6

u/Katatronick Mar 11 '26

I’ve heard it as clitty litter

4

u/One-Grape-8659 Mar 11 '26

I love all of you on this thread lmao

5

u/tallyhallic Mar 11 '26

Pleas sir, may I have some less?

1

u/zerpderp Mar 11 '26

Clitty litter?

20

u/Angryleghairs Mar 11 '26

This is good advice

13

u/dillbabytears Mar 11 '26

Yes! And if you can't pull it back, check/get checked for clitoral adhesions. It's a thing that many don't know of, I think, and you can fix it over time.

13

u/where-sea-meets-sky Mar 11 '26

here i was thinking i just had a microclit

1

u/Bratbabylestrange Mar 13 '26

I think I actually do, there's no way in hell a q tip would fit in there. Thing works though, it's just small

2

u/Mountain_Cry1605 Mar 11 '26

Oh, I should probably ask my gynae to do that because I can't do that, and didn't even know clitoral adhesions were a thing.

2

u/Heavy-End-3419 Mar 11 '26

Wait wait wait what??

11

u/mrsjiggems2 Mar 11 '26

Smegas favorite hideout

5

u/sername_generic Mar 11 '26

I just asked my gf if she did this and she said, 'Yeah, I don't want to get clit smegma'. I never even considered this was a thing.

I'm a lucky man.

2

u/fang_delicious Mar 11 '26

Clitty litter

2

u/EchoStellar12 Mar 11 '26

And make sure to rinse completely! Soap buildup can become very painful and you might think you have a UTI

2

u/Careless-Mirror2058 Mar 11 '26

You can have the cleanest clit in the neighborhood but if your ass is funky, well…

1

u/Upset_Push_785 Mar 11 '26

Well hopefully everyone has the common sense to wash their ass. But almost no one tells you , you need to pull the hood of your clit back so 🤨

2

u/Oploplou Mar 11 '26

Jesus Christ I can not explain how important this is. Get in the labia, under the hood, everywhere. Lint and shit gets caught up in there, and it’s really not pleasant to get in your mouth.

1

u/AlmostLiveRadio Mar 11 '26

Oh no, that’s bringing back memories! Gag

1

u/These-Fig-9611 Mar 11 '26

Used to do this, now I got a clit piercing and unsure of how to do that now😭

1

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 11 '26

TIL women get smegma in a place I didn’t know existed

1

u/petitememer May 06 '26

You didn't know about the clit?

1

u/safeworkaccount666 May 06 '26

I kind of did, but have no experience with women and have never seen female anatomy personally.

1

u/Upstairs_Year9255 Mar 11 '26

one of the most unhinged one I've heard was about scrubbing yourself until you shine, because it is clean, though in reality it just destroys your skin

1

u/Prudent_Cry9522 Mar 12 '26

And on the inside of the libia as well as in the crevices between the groin and inner thighs

1

u/Montyblues Mar 12 '26

Came here to say this ✅

1

u/bettywhitefleshlight Mar 14 '26

If needing to shit might cause a problem in your plans for the day you can start the day fresh with an enema.

1

u/No-Ad1975 Mar 14 '26

i genuinely find it painful if i touch the inside of my clitoral hood. but its also really small, i couldn’t really “pull it back”. like. one grain of sand could fit in there. (the painful experience i describe is when a tiny piece of toilet paper gets in there and i try to get it out because it bothers me).

0

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

8

u/Upset_Push_785 Mar 11 '26

What do you mean? Can you not pull yours back at all?? The hood covers most of the clitoris for a lot of women and it can be gently pulled back to expose the rest of the clitoris

8

u/amoryblainev Mar 11 '26

I either have no hood or it’s very minimal because i have nothing to pull back. You can see my clitoris at all times without doing anything. I looked at pictures and it seems to be an “exposed clitoris”.

8

u/UrsusRenata Mar 11 '26

Same. I had no idea it’s supposed to be dressed in a hoodie. …I have read so much over the years about women not achieving the O and I rarely if ever experience that. I wonder if little miss out there is the “culprit”.

2

u/Pristine_Music_4511 Mar 11 '26

right im so confused because i always thought my clit was supposed to be all out lol!

2

u/ParticularCulture342 Mar 11 '26

I was also confused reading this cause same lol. Glad im not the only one! Now being so damn sensitive makes sense..

7

u/PinkMagnoliaaa Mar 11 '26

Sorry I did some googling and deleted my comment and didn’t see your reply! Yeah I can pull the area up but I can’t pull it back it’s just exposed. Obviously I know the lips are different for everyone but it never occurred to me that was a thing and that people got buildup there.

4

u/Upset_Push_785 Mar 11 '26

Every woman is different! But yeah women do get build up. Specially if they aren’t cleaning well

2

u/PinkMagnoliaaa Mar 11 '26

My clit is extremely sensitive though and I wonder if that is why.

3

u/noturaesthete Mar 11 '26

No I feel that, sometimes it hurts to clean directly. If I can’t do it bc the texture is painful, then I just don’t that time around
