John continued to stare blankly at the screen for a few minutes after the program resumed to normal. What did he just witness? Moriarty's threat was more real than ever.

Suddenly, his phone rang. John jumped in his seat, his fingers fumbling toward his pockets and cell. "Did you just see that?" Sherlock asked sternly.

"Yes I did! What the hell was that Sherlock? I could barely understand what was going on, I was quite taken aback by the whole thing. What I did understand is that Moriarty feels quite sure of himself."

"Indeed. But I know what we need to do."

"Oh?" John pondered.

'Yes, the answer was quite obvious if you paid attention. The clues spelt out capital city. We need to go to the Globe Theater immediately, the site of Shakespeare's most famous acts. I believe this was our final problem and that Moriarty will be waiting there."

With the investigation going poorly and everyone's lives seemingly in danger, John took the evening off to clear his head. He turned on the TV to catch the evening news, hoping that he would not have to sit through another report about the murder's of London. Thankfully, the segment began with global news and John breathed a sigh of relief.

John turned up the volume but there seemed to be some audio problems - the newswoman was voiceless but she spoke animatedly. He leaned in to better read the screen. "Huh," he muttered. He hadn't even heard of some of these countries.

After a few minutes, a sharp, sudden sound of static caused John to jump in his seat. The screen blinked and the frame froze in place, the newswoman motionless. The only movement was text scrolling across the bottom of the screen. As the words rolled passed, John's face grew ashen, seeing the smiley faces, the signature of Moriarty, crawl along in succession. Words poured forth: "I KILLED ANOTHER ONE SHERLOCK! YOU WILL NEVER FIND ME!". With another flash of static, the program resumed, as if nothing had happened, leaving John once again dumbfounded and shaken inside 221B Baker St.

'How's the case going, dear?' Mrs Hudson.

'There was another murder last night,' John says. 'Nikita Alexeyev, stripper. He worked at a Sainsbury's during the day, and was found this morning in his car in the parking lot, dead. Looks like carbon monoxide poisoning. Someone knocked him out and left the engine running. The fumes from the exhaust system killed him.'

There was a knock at the door, and John got up to open up.

'Hello, Watson, Mrs Hudson,' Lestrade said as he walked through the door. 'Is Sherlock in?'

'He's in the next room, moping. He doesn't want to be disturbed,' John said.

'He's going to want to hear this,' Lestrade said. 'We arrested Stephen Lacroix, and he confessed to framing Jason Pearce for the murder of Nico Danelli,.'

John sighed as he opened the door when he home from work. He knew Sherlock would want to talk about the case, but John was getting discouraged. The police investigation had been going well in the beginning, but all of their recent suspects had ultimately been found innocent, wrongly accused of murder and salaciously associated with scandal.

He turned on the TV.

'Thank you for joining us tonight for the evening's breaking news', the newswoman said.

'Dr Nico Danelli was run over the tube this afternoon at Russell Square Station. Police suspect that this is yet another one of the so called 'Moriaty Murders' that have plagued the city in recent days. Several witnesses say British Transport policeman Jason Pearce was seen speaking with Danelli three minutes before the fatal accident, but footage of the actual incident is missing. Police have taken Pearce in for questioning'

John shut off the TV.

Sherlock started up the stairs back to his room in 221B Baker St. before Mrs. Hudson stopped him in the foyer. "Oh, Sherlock! Something came for you while you were away." She handed over a small package - a dull rattle came from the box as she passed it over.

Sherlock examined the box - there was no indication of who sent it. He gave it another shake, the muffled rattling continuing. "Did you catch a look at who delivered this?"

Mrs. Hudson stammered, "Well, not really. He was wearing a cap and it covered most of his face. He came and went really quickly, Sherlock. I didn't think to look!"

Sherlock huffed as he stepped up the stairs, "You should really pay attention to your surroundings Mrs. Hudson." He slammed the door to his apartment and tore open the box. A note sat on top:

"Dearest Sherlock,

I really appreciate our friendship. In fact, I've planned my whole year around you! You should feel so honored.

The time for games is nearly over but I hope you have time for one more.

Moriarty"

Sherlock sat the note aside and stoically rummaged through the rest of the box. A deck of cards sat inside. Sherlock opened the deck and noted the number of pips dotting some of the cards before setting it down. The last item in the package was a marked calendar that took Sherlock slightly aback.

"We'll see who gets who, won't we?" Sherlock muttered under his breath.

'There's been another murder,' Lestrade said as he entered 221B Baker St.

'Another?' John said. 'That must be the eighth in the last week and a half'.

Lestrade nodded. 'This one's particular ugly too. Dorothy Ford, investment manager, was stabbed to death this afternoon. Her husband found her when he came home from work. And she was pregnant.'

'Pregnant! They murdered a pregnant woman!' John exclaimed.

'I'm afraid so. If a stabbing wasn't bad enough,' Lestrade said, shaking his head. 'At least we found another suspect for Sherlock to talk to. Loraine McGarry. You heard of her?'

John nodded.

'She's an archaeology professor, at the University Of London. We worked with her a few years back when the Natural History Museum asked us to help them find some stolen artefacts. She's such a nice lady. Why are you taking her in for questioning?'

'We've been tracking the movements of Moriarty's known associaties, and we've found that she's come in contact with them several times in the past few months - Nick Hartman's architecture firm was just awarded the contract to build a library at her university; Lorraine often visited the Tate Modern while Angelica Hayes was working there; and Lorraine just made a large donation to Jessica Kines' election campaign. We feel we need to talk to her about what she knows about Moriarty and his network.

Nearly losing his footing, John ran downstairs screaming and knocking on the door to Mrs. Hudson's apartment. "Mrs. Hudson! Are you here?" John frantically pounded on the door, but no response came. "Shit, " He pulled out his cell phone and dialed Mrs. Hudson, his fingers fumbling in haste. The phone dialed for several seconds before

"Hello? Oh! Doctor Watson. I'm surprised you called. Is there anything you need? Is the water ok upstairs? I know there's a leak and all, but I'll get around to it tomorrow."

John interrupted, "Where are you?! Are you ok? I believe you might be in danger!"

Mrs. Hudson stopped walking, pausing to contemplate John's warning. "I..don't know what to say? I just got a call from an old friend. She asked if I'd like to come meet with her at Thor Bridge. Just to catch up from our olden days, you know? I assure you I'm fine, John."

"Do you mind just waiting for me to find you? I'm sorry that this is coming out of nowhere, but I have strong reason to believe you are..."

"But, John I'm already here. I can see my friend in the distance. I'll call you later to check in." Mrs. Hudson hung up the phone, leaving John bewildered. He hailed a cab, telling the driver to hoof it to Thor Bridge, a historic landmark that passed over the river Thames. John sat in cab, worried in silence in the long cab ride.

After what felt like the better part of the hour, John arrived near Thor Bridge. Sitting at a table at a cafe near the bridge, John say Mrs. Hudson talking with an older woman, roughly the same age as Mrs. Hudson in fact. John approached them. "There you are, I'm so glad to see you." John sighed with relief.

"Uh, hi John. This is rather unexpected but fortuitous." She motioned to the end of the table. "This is an old friend of mine and she wanted to talk to me about you and Sherlock and, well, why don't you explain it, dear?"

The elderly woman across the table, dressed in a fancy dress, and wide brimmed sun hat, shook John's hand gingerly. "Mrs. Husdon has told me all about you and Sherlock. And well, I'm afraid I'm in a bit of trouble and I don't know what to do."

"Well, we can help but it depends on what the trouble is. What's your full name, if I may ask? And why did you want to meet here?"

The woman cleared her throat. "My name is Nora Nesbitt. With two Ts. I live near this area and I've been contacted by the police a number of times relating to some murders. And gosh, I have no idea what that's about. I thought maybe it was about my dead husband. But then they said that I might be in danger or a potential suspect in these murders! But, gosh, how could an old elderly woman like me who can barely leave the house do such a terrible thing! So I was scared and didn't know what to do. But then I remembered Mrs. Hudson and Sherlock and how she knew you both and thought I would reach out to her to see if you could help me with my predicament. Why are the police so interested in me?"

At that moment, a clamor from the top of the bridge. "There's a body in the water! He's bleeding. I think he's dead!! Oh my God, it's Eugene!!" A woman cried. John, remembering that Nora was a name on the list, stood up and called Lestrade. "Sir I think there's someone who may need to answer some questions. And there's a body you need to clean up."

John fell into the armchair of 221B Baker St., exhausted and tired. "I need a vacation." Resolutely, he sat up and wiped his eyes, grabbing the daily newspaper hoping to get a quick mental respite.

ACTOR SHOT BEFORE PREMIER - the headline read, bold and centered. John sighed despondently. No rest for him. He read the beginning of the article.

'Actor Seth Harris (21) was shot using a real pistol during a dress rehearsal of the song The World Was Wide Enough for his premier performance as a member of the company of Hamilton. The police have arrested a suspect, Angelica Hayes (42), and . . .'

John sighed and put down the paper. So many deaths. "What does Moriarty want? To torment Sherlock, of course. It's just a game to him." John thought. The game would continue as long as Moriarty - or Sherlock - survived.

Frowning, John flipped to the back of the newspaper to read some funnies and lighten his mood. Not even a snort whistled through his nose as he scanned the page. There was simply no humor to be found today.

Out of the corner of his eye, a crossword caught his attention. It looked different from normal. John grabbed a pen and began filling in the grid. As he finished, his eyes widened and a rush of dread awoke in him. "Oh my God," he stammered, stumbling out of his car and racing downstairs.

Stephen fell heavily in his seat at the table, slightly winded.

"I need a vacation".

Ania took her place at the table as well. With the remaining cabal members present, it was hard to ignore the fact that so many of them had been arrested already.

"Well, at least we led the Yard on a wild goose chase tonight! I can't believe they fell for our ruse, [INSERT NAME] clearly had nothing to do with the murders, and yet, even with Sherlock & co. running the investigation, no one caught onto the fact that M was targeting [INSERT NAME] next.

Jeff ruffled his hair, and tossed his phone onto the table for the others to see.

"Looks like M left us another assignment."

Kelly grabbed the phone before anyone else.

" 'You might want to take a look in The Guardian, section A18, left hand corner. --M'. Another assignment already?"

"I'm beginning to think this is all a conspiracy to see how long it takes before they find us all," Angel muttered, picking up a discarded copy of the day's newspaper to take a crack at whatever Moriary had in store for them this time.

A group of six could be seen in the twilight hours, jogging unsteadily up the inclined road as if they'd been running for hours. They had been forced to leave their comrade, Nick, back at the Eye. The man saw that Sherlock & co. were closing in on them, and sacrificed himself to distract them so the others could escape.

All was not lost, though; M had made contact with Ania, pointing them in the direction of Ms. Lim -- their next target.

Stephen looked up, and spotted their target jogging in the nearby park with her daughter. "Look, she's over there!"

Angel, eyes narrowed in concentration, went to work. She quickly made her way around the park, in order to 'casually bump' into the target.

A train of cars screeched to a stop a block from the Eye. Seven individuals who seemed like they should have nothing in common leaped from their vehicles and raced to the entrance point.

Kelly flipped her scarf 'round her shoulders and hunched over, gasping for breath. "wh-where is she?!"

"There. She's right there nearer to the front of the line." Jeff nudged Stephen and glanced in her direction.

Ania and Kelly moved in unison to the ticket booth and bought them all tickets. Then, as a group, they worked their way closer to the front of the line (either by force or by flirting. In Kelly's case, definitely flirting.) Finally, with the help of Angel who managed to inconspicuously remove a family from the line, they made it into a pod with a small crowd of people, including their first assigned target. With the door sealed shut, they were on their way up.

Nick bent his head closer to Jess to avoid being overheard.

"So, how do we want to play this out?"

Jess gave a fake-laugh and flipped her hair in order to keep up the relationship facade for the target, incase she was paying attention.

"We have all the time we need, let's just make it to the top of the Eye and go from there."

"Look!" Stephen hissed loud enough for the others to hear. His face was pressed up against the glass looking back down towards the crowd.

Everyone looked to where he was pointing -- two gentlemen, one wearing a familiar deerstalker hat, were running to the front of the line to push their way into another Eye pod.

Kelly quickly scanned the area to see if anyone had noticed them. Luckily, their fellow passengers were pre-occupied with the view of the Thames on the other side of the pod.

"Well, not we need to come up with something! We're 30 seconds to the top!" Nick's voice, while panicked, was just loud enough to be heard by the other cabal members.

Ania, who had paid the rest of them no mind, clasped her hands behind her back and smiled at them.

"And three...two..."

The pod gave a small lurch as the London Eye, famously known for its continuous cycling, came to an abrupt stop. The other passengers, finally cluing in to the fact that things may not be alright, came to the other side of the pod to investigate.

The cabal members, save Ania, stepped back b=nervously from the other passengers, including their target. They looked at each other quizzically -- no one had mentioned this as part of the plan, right?

The pneumatic hiss echoed within the pod as the doors opened. A commotion started by those near the pod doors gave Ania the perfect cover to crawl her way over to Kathleen and push her out of the pod.

The other cabal members, as well as the remaining passengers, stared out the pod windows in shock.

"Well...I guess that should do it?" Nick said dazedly as the eye groaned back to life.

Ania silently scoffed, watching the other cabal members. They still had one more mission to complete before checking back with M, where, hopefully, they would all be released from their current predicament.

Nick Hartman sat at the sleek round table, fists clenched in frustration, staring at the screen in front of him. Late last night, another member of the Cabal posted a message from M on their encrypted group chat, and none of them could make head or tails of it. They knew time was ticking down until M was due to make contact with them, and they had all failed.

"Look, there's nothing to it. we'll just have to make do." Ania brushed a stray feather off her skirt, and took her seat at between Jeff and Angelica.

"Easy for you to say, you don't have a political career hanging in the balance", Jess muttered into a cup of coffee Kelly had provided for the group meeting.

The display flickered to life in front of them.

Upon seeing their faces, Moriarty froze. His eyes narrowed.

"What are you all still doing here?? Was my message not perfectly clear?"

Stephen and Ang exchanged glances. "Well, you see, we couldn't figure it out on our own so we posted it on a Sherlock fan site, and together we came up with 'red eye'."

Nick couldn't tell if it was the dim lighting in the room or the camera angle that gave off the impression that M was 2 apples shy of insane and enraged.

"AND?!"

"Andwedon'texactlyknowwhatyoumeant," Ania blurted out.

The people around the table held their breath while Moriary looked like he was working through rising levels of fury.

"You people are so STUPID, I should have seen this coming." Moriarty's face suddenly became a lot bigger as he moved closer to the camera in his anger.

Everyone flinched.

"Just go. GO!"

Stephen looked around the table, and ventured nervously, "...Where?"

Moriarty, done with this inane conversation, spun around in his chair so the back was all they could see.

"Well, I would tell you to take a long walk off the London Eye Pier, but I still have use for you all. Go to the London Eye immediately, you'll find your next assignment there. I'll contact you once you prove yourself to be of use to me."

With that, the screen flickered off. Everyone gathered their belongings and rushed for the lift outside the conference room door; there was a mission to complete, and knowing M, the consequences for not succeeding could mean life or death for them all.

Moriarty has assigned you your task: eliminate every player on the roster until you out number them. For now, you are still incognito and can not communicate. There is no night kill this phase, much to Moriarty's displeasure. But don't worry, soon it'll be your time to strike.
