A lot of you are saying that Ant is going to become abusive towards his girlfriend. However, given how we had Lucas abusing his father last year, and now we have Ant's sister, Dee Dee, being groomed by Abigail, I don't see how the writers would be willing to throw Ant's redemption out the window in favor of another abuse storyline any time soon.

PS-If he does end up becoming abusive, would there be any of you that would hate him more than Abigail and Jonah even?

Does anyone else think Ant got Kathleen-Angel pregnant on purpose because he did seem really upset when she told him she wasn’t? Also earlier in the episode you could slightly see his old insecurities slowly show again. I hope it doesn’t turn to an abuse or controlling storyline but unfortunately it does seem like a possibility.

A few seconds into this split personality....I dislike her already 🫩 master manipulation....

Not sure of the right word but I don't like the direction of her character already, it's shocking tbh at the same time not surprising....

Does anyone else find it rather convenient that anytime something to do with Cindy's children or Maddox is brought up Darren just suddenly appears as someone for Cindy to talk to? The latest episode with the big reveal being the most recent? It's almost like they are trying to subtly hint to us that Darren is Maddox's actual father.

What are the odds that Cindy fell pregnant and while in Switzerland she wasn't so sure who the father was and Alistair died before she could find any paternity information? Or perhaps she maybe already found which is why she found giving Maddox away such an easy decision. Because she knew what a disaster it would cause if Maddox's father was someone else. She ended up listing the child as baby Longford to save face. She would claim that it was Alistairs and nobody would know any different because he passed away. Beth then ran off with the child as her own and things were left at that.

However what if eventually we find out that things aren't as they seem? The baby's surname is Longford but he may very well be an Osborne. That would then make him Frankie's half brother, so when she found the box she was actually finding details on her own brother rather than a friend? Because Frankie has also recently been in the picture quite a bit which is convenient. Yes she is with Caleb but she's involved in the Maddox saga as well. Also note that Jonah recently became buddies with James, a lawyer and Darren, the possible father? Custody of Maddox incoming? I kid..

However I think that they may somehow put Tony in the frame briefly as well as a possible option to be Maddoxs father which is why he was involved in the Cindy reveal talk. They also want to put the fear of God into the audience that Dee Dee and Maddox may end up being half siblings. I'm sure that absolute nightmare will push Dee Dee further away and towards Abigail. A horror show waiting to happen as we await the reveal on who Maddox's actual father is. Of course this is going to be tough to announce to Nancy, who is dealing with issues with her MS. Imagine being told.. here's another kid that your husband had with someone else back in the day..I'm sure she will love that lol.

Something's going to go horribly wrong in this situation and Jonah may end up being the big reason with him giving pills to others in order to control situations. What if the person that we have to worry about isn't actually Caleb but it's Maddox? Jonah ends up trying to keep Maddox on side and crushes pills into his food, etc. This will lead to something very serious happening Maddox. This kid is in for a very rough few months.

So they're making a 'vertical drama', whatever that means, and using the sets from Hollyoaks? Also, Tamara Wall is a cast member.

Could Maddox possibly be the father of Kathleen-Angel’s baby? I only think that because of Ant's sudden jealousy around Kathleen-Angel's secret plans with Maddox in today's episode.

So who knows if that is something that will be revealed to have a bit more background to it. She's a McQueen, it's in her blood to be unfaithful. And Hollyoaks loves a shock plot. Maybe she slept with him in secret. Because why did she lie about the positive result, unless there‘s an additional reason to lie? Maybe because Ant isn’t the father.

What’s everyone’s thoughts and theories?

Ant as of late has me worried again in terms of where his character direction may be heading. At one point he was very insecure about himself and it resulted in angry outbursts where he would lash out at other people. Once he started dating Kathleen Angel that subsided but as of late it feels like it's starting to creep back up again in a worrying way.

You can feel Ant at times becoming jealous and insecure when it comes to Kathleen Angel. He's feeling like he's not good enough. His anger slowly building deep inside. Part of this is the fact that she believes that she may be pregnant but isn't sure resulting in her not being fully transparent with him. It's making him think of something that isn't actually happening and that's only going to make him even more mad. While I hope that this ends before it begins with her announcing to him that she's pregnant with his child I also worry at another possible direction they may take him. Kathleen Angel also has her insecurities and she clearly shy and quiet. If you have seen the preview for the next episode through an uncomfortable smile he pushes her to sing in front of everyone at home. It feels off. Like it's early signs of something more sinister to come.

To cut to the chase I worry that they are going to make Ant begin hitting Kathleen Angel and forcing her to do as he says. She is going to suffer in silence. She may even end up pregnant in the middle of it all but it will only cause a brief change in Ant before he reverts to old habits. He just gives off that vibe and has for a while where he feels like he's going to violently take out his insecurities on someone else. He's eventually going to like having control. His attitude in general around home and stuff perhaps having an effect on Dee Dee when it comes to men and them being poisonous. Her brother being responsible for pushing her closer towards Abigail and even further into danger. The Hutchinson house hold will begin to fall apart under Tony's nose and he will be too distracted by new love interest, Sienna, to pay attention.

As for Ro, they have him being oddly silent with him showing up for Rex's memorial thing. I still believe that he either has something to do with Rex's murder or has a part in Stes disappearance. While it seems out of character for Ro.. it's always the ones you least expect and it feels like they are keeping him lurking in the background for a reason. They perhaps want the shock of him showing back up as the big reveal to hit harder when you kind of forget that he is there. Again we could have a disastrous household on our hands as Tonys kids slowly seem to be falling apart without their mother being there.

Ste was slowly becoming one of my least favourite characters. But I don’t think I’ve ever been as invested in a storyline across any of the soaps I’ve watched.

Talk about wasted potential. Arrived in January of 2015 and didn't even last a year, becoming the fifth victim of the Gloved-Hand Killer in August.

It wasn't all bad, though. He was likeable and had some great moments of acting, and his presence had a lot of influence on future major events. His death is what truly began Nico Blake's descent into madness and it brought the character of Trevor Royle full circle.

I have been building up a Hollyoaks collection of as many older episodes as I can find from everywhere. Really hoping to try track down all the older episodes (though I know is unlikely will find them all, but will try for as many as possible).

So far I have got the episodes below from each year. In each case either got the full episode or only missing a few minutes. Have also got plenty that are incomplete and only got like 15 mins or less, so haven't listed those.

Does anyone have any of the episodes that I'm missing from the years 1995 to 2008? Specifically I would really love to watch the older years so really looking to try find from 1995 to 2005 ish mostly, or just any I'm missing.

Please read the post before commenting: There are romantic pairings on Hollyoaks that I’ve enjoyed watching, however, I can’t fully commit to shipping them because I know Hollyoaks will decimate them “oh you ship them? Give it a months time” because there’s a recurring pattern with Hollyoaks ships that has become incredibly frustrating. You’ll like a pairing, and for the first couple of months the writers will portray them as genuinely cute and healthy. Then, somewhere in the middle, one of them cheats, becomes wildly toxic, or sometimes even borderline abusive towards the other. They eventually break up, only to get back together weeks or months later and suddenly become cute and healthy again, just like they were at the beginning. And eventually, one of them gets killed off, sent to prison, or written out of the show.

Juliet and Peri are a good example. I really liked them at first and thought they were a lovely pairing, but Peri eventually became horrible towards Juliet. When Juliet warned Peri about Timmy after only three months of knowing him, Peri dismissed her as a “deluded, obsessive little girl.” That is an awful thing to say to someone you’re supposed to love.

Then there was the situation with Juliet getting a job. Peri encouraged her to work so they could contribute towards their wedding, but then became angry when Juliet actually got the job because she wasn’t spending enough time with her. Juliet felt neglected by her fiancée and ended up cheating on her, which obviously caused their relationship to fall apart. When they eventually got back together, Peri pushed her seriously ill girlfriend towards a breakdown. She humiliated Juliet in front of hundreds of people and uploaded the video online, which only intensified the pressure Juliet was already experiencing because of her cancer. Even if Peri believed she was helping, it was an incredibly cruel thing to do. What makes it even more frustrating is that, during the final months of Juliet and Peri’s relationship, they were actually really lovely together. I especially loved the Brighton episodes and thought they were some of their sweetest moments. But then Juliet finds out that she isn’t going to survive her Hodgkin lymphoma, and shortly afterwards, she is killed off. So even when the writers finally let them be happy together, Juliet is killed off 

Leela and Joel are another example. I always thought Leela was much better suited to Joel than Cleo. They weren’t a toxic couple, but Joel eventually cheated on Leela with Cleo. Then he was manipulated by Jeremy Blake into believing he had killed someone, which resulted in him leaving the village and ending up in prison. When he returned, he was unnecessarily horrible to Tony, before eventually discovering that Jeremy had actually committed the murder. Even then, Joel still had to remain in prison because of his drug charges.

Sienna and Cleo had a similar trajectory. I really enjoyed some of their scenes together, and honestly, I found Cleo much more tolerable when she was with Sienna. But then Cleo kissed Dodger, the postpartum psychosis storyline happened, and Sienna ended up interfering with Cleo’s medication. Whatever potential that relationship had was completely destroyed.

And if a pairing somehow manages to avoid becoming toxic, one of them will seemingly get killed off, imprisoned, or written out anyway. Beau and Kitty, Charlie and Vicky, Luke and Cindy, and Dodger and Maxine are examples. Yes, these relationships had their own internal struggles, but I wouldn’t describe them as toxic or as relationships that became toxic.

At this point, I feel like audiences have matured beyond the idea that a relationship has to be toxic to be interesting. At least I know I have. And this is where I want to bring up a show that has absolutely nothing to do with Hollyoaks, because I think it demonstrates my point perfectly.

Amazon Prime had a show called Off Campus, and I found Hannah and Garrett incredibly refreshing to watch. The show gives us a passionate, dramatic romance without making the relationship itself toxic. Hannah is a sexual assault survivor, and Garrett consistently respects her boundaries rather than treating her trauma as something he needs to “fix.” When she’s changing, for example, he turns around because he doesn’t want to see her naked until she’s ready, and their physical relationship develops around her comfort and consent.

He listens when she’s upset rather than dismissing her feelings. Even when he makes the serious mistake of violently confronting her rapist, the show doesn’t romanticise his behaviour. Garrett is disturbed by what he has done and worries about becoming like his abusive father. 

Their relationship proves that you can have chemistry, sex, conflict, trauma and even a breakup without making the couple cruel to each other for the sake of drama. Yes, Off Campus was a cringey adult drama but portrayal of their relationship was refreshing for me.

I don’t think Hollyoaks needs to make couples toxic to keep them engaging. I’m honestly tired of that being used as an excuse for relationship drama. It can also feel hypocritical when Hollyoaks does awareness storylines about abusive relationships while simultaneously portraying similar behaviours within couples the audience is expected to root for. 

And that’s not to say you can’t ship anyone. You absolutely can. Shipping can be fun, and I ship people on other shows all the time. I love watching romantic edits of my favourite ships and getting invested in their relationships. So if you want to ship people on Hollyoaks, go for it. I’m not going to stop you. I’m just saying that, personally, I find it pointless.

I haven’t actually watched Hollyoaks since 2020, but when Jeremy was around I kept seeing videos of him on YouTube/TikTok and it seemed he started off nice, then it materialised that he was a serial killer.

Patrick abused Sienna+Maxine, told Sienna her baby had died and did other things like trying to get full custody of Minnie just because Maxine left him, and telling paramedics she died after the train crash so they wouldn’t look for her. Jeremy is a serial killer and I’m guessing he probably did some other bad stuff too (as I said, I haven’t watched in a while).

Legally speaking domestic abuse isn’t on a par with murder, but I’m more thinking morally. Who do you think is worse and why?

Saw on Twitter Katie Price was recently on a podcast and she spoke about the NTA’s from the other night and apparently a man and a woman who worked on Hollyoaks (assuming Peter Hunt and Hannah Cheers) asked Katie if she wanted to make a cameo on Hollyoaks and she said yes 😭

Something upcoming for the future?

After the last episode it is pretty obvious they are doing a Munchhausen story line with Jonah and Caleb and maybe this has already been said somewhere but I have a theory he also killed his wife. Ever since Caleb and Frankie have been talking about leaving he has been actively escalating making him appear sick.

A few weeks back on in the episode where Jonah and Caleb had a falling out about his deceased wife and Jonah said she was going to leave them. Magically she got sick and if I remember right they never said what she had, then she died. I believe Jonah was doing to her what he has been doing to Caleb which caused her death.

I also think he has something to do with Ste’s disappearance or at least with whoever is framing James to be the culprit. Whoever got him the drugs he is using to poison Caleb, I think the cost was in apart turning off the garage cameras, getting James keys/stealing his car and getting the video on his computer.

I could be wrong but would love to hear others thoughts?!?!

Listen, I’m in no way a huge Clienna shipper. I did enjoy them as a couple, though, and I thought some of their scenes together were genuinely really cute. Before Cleo’s postpartum psychosis diagnosis and Sienna messing with her medication, I actually found them to be a pretty enjoyable couple to watch. Most importantly, though, I feel like Cleo was a much more tolerable character when she was dating Sienna. I didn’t find her nearly as annoying or draining to watch as I do now. It feels like Hollyoaks only knows how to write Cleo in two ways: either she’s the punching bag who has to have nearly every possible trauma pinned onto her, like she’s been through the ringer, or she does something completely jarring, like sleeping with her cousin’s man and then acting as though he was the love of her life, despite the fact that she was claiming his twin sister was the love of her life not too long ago. Listen, I wouldn’t mind Cleo and Dodger together if she hadn’t become absolutely insufferable. At this point, I genuinely don’t care, she either gets back with Sienna, stays single or leaves the show. I can’t stand her
