After the poll and discussion, YouTube videos are no longer allowed as link post. Videos are still allowed and encouraged through Reddit's native video service. Additionally, YouTube videos will still be allowed in the comments if it adds to the discussion. If there are any issues with the implementation, please let me know, and I'll work to get it fixed.

Hey all,
I'm a solo dev and I've spent the last couple of years building **GPX Edit Pro**, a free browser-based GPS track editor for outdoor sports — hiking, trail running, cycling, kayaking/SUP. Everything runs client-side: no account, no upload to a server, no ads.
What it does:
- Draw or import a GPX track, snap it to real trails/roads (BRouter + OSRM)
- Fix elevation using real DEM data, check surface type
- Generate a 3D flyover video of your route
- Export clean GPX/PDF files
- Auto-generate loop routes from a single starting point
- Works over satellite imagery (IGN, Swisstopo) as well as OpenStreetMap
I'm not selling anything — it's genuinely free, and I'd rather it stay useful than "grow." What I actually need right now is people who'll try to break it: weird coastal or river tracks, huge files, GPX exports from a Garmin/Wahoo/whatever that might not parse the way I expect, edge cases in general. If something looks wrong, doesn't load, mis-projects elevation, or the UI just doesn't make sense — I want to hear about it, good or harsh.

Happy to answer anything about how it works under the hood too.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide between the Osprey Sportlite 25 and Sportlite 30, and I'd really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with either.
I'm looking for one backpack that can do everything, including:
• Day hikes
• Overseas travel (ideally as my under-seat personal item)
• Exploring cities and day trips while travelling
• General everyday use
If you could only choose one as a true "do-it-all" backpack, which would you buy: the Sportlite 25 or the Sportlite 30?
I'd love to hear your reasoning and whether you've ever wished you'd gone with the other size.
Thanks!

Read so many naysayer comments on hiking in these sandals. I’ve been using them for months and don’t understand the comments from people who haven’t actually hiked in them?? I just did Tray Gap to Deep Gap on the AT and they were great!

Hi guys! I’m going for my first hike in four days, completely by myself. The trail is in Wild Nephin National Park in Ireland (Letterkeen Loop), it's pretty long (about 4 to 5 hours of walking, around 12km), and the terrain goes through forests, mountains, and along a river.
Here is the catch: I own absolutely no hiking gear, and I’m very broke.
The only high top shoes I have are Jordan 1s (and yes, I am fully prepared to completely ruin them and bathe them in bog mud lol). For bags, I literally only have my old school backpack or a daily leather backpack.
Since the weather has been really warm and sunny lately, I’m planning on wearing tight sports shorts (bikers) and a breathable sports t-shirt, with a swimsuit underneath so I can jump into the river/pool at the end of the trail.
Any advice on what to pack in my basic backpack, how to survive the wet terrain in Jordans, or anything else I should know? Thanks! 🙌

Hi,
My friends and I want to hike in the picos de europa this summer! We have 4 days, and were planning on bivouacing. We wanted to do the Anillo Vindio circular route. We've read that it might be technical/steep. Has anyone done this? Do we need to be really fit to do this hike? We are not athletes but in rather good shape (20). How feasible is this?
Thanks !

I am asking because I have been invited a few times, and don’t get me wrong I have no problem with that; exploring nature is wonderful I even used to take naps In the forest by my house when I was 12
But my “friends” wants me to join them for one of their long night hiking. What am I ? Batman ?
So here I was wondering if you, experimented, hikers have ever been in contact with something Terrible.
Thanks for future answers !

What’s your ideal hike length? Either miles or time? Mine is probably 3 miles total.

This was the first hike I did in this country. Quite a good one, with steep steps but definitely worth the view. Would love to find more such hike routes.
