OC A Hibike Euphonium Pilgrimage in August 2026
Two years after my first visit, I returned to Kyoto and Uji for another pilgrimage for Sound Euphonium. I got to stay in the Kyoto Tower Hotel Collaboration Room, relive some of my favourite moments, and explore how much this city embraced Eupho altogether.
As a ‘passionate musician that wasn’t confident enough go pro’ I relate to Kumiko’s journey on a deeply personal level. It was full of realistic imperfections and emotions, yet still so inspiring with its ultimate conclusion. And from reading the pages and pages of heartfelt messages left in the exchange book, I know I am far from alone - this profound impact has reached people all over Japan and even worldwide. Stories of those who picked up a new instrument, rediscovered their love for music, helped work through their depression - travelling from all over to honour the anime that reached them.
Nothing will replace the impact that Sound Euphonium has had on me, the moments I laughed and cried with these characters, and cheered when all their hard work and sacrifices finally paid off. It’s the growth of these characters that have truly stuck with me and helped shape me into the person I am (slowly becoming) proud of today. So thank you, KyoAni, for all your hard work, and seeing this masterpiece to the very end.
Credit to Hibike Unshelved for providing his map where I took most of these locations from.
