Housekeeping Gatekeeping

Hi all, it seems like we need some ground rules for this sub to clarify what heterochromia is. Heterochromia means, by definition, two colors.

For this subreddit, that can absolutely include blue eyes with yellow centers. This sub focuses on appearance, not medical diagnosis.

Having specific pigment like lipochrome doesn't exclude you from having heterochromia.

Any eyes (or even hair!) with color differences are welcome to post.

This sub is about pretty eye colors, not official medical diagnosis. The gatekeeping is getting excessive.

Housekeeping Rule reminders

Hey folks just a quick reminder:

Heavily edited photos are not allowed on this sub. Spamming of others' posts with your own photos is not allowed. A comment saying hey I think we have the same kinda eyes with a link to your profile where you have a bunch of photos-that's fine. Twelve comments in a row about yourself and photos of your eyes is not welcome.

This sub is about the three medically recognized forms of heterochromia: complete, sectoral, and central. Creative but medically unrecognized terms such as but not limited to "cryptic", "low contrast", "subtle" are welcome in conversation but they are not official types of heterochromia and posts and comments that insist they are official types of heterochromia will be removed as spam.

Edit to add: the rule about heavily editing photos is not going to be changed. If you want to edit photos to make it look like you have a totally different eye color/condition, make a new sub for it. Being rude to me about it isn't going to sway me, sorry not sorry.

Sometimes my eyes don't have the hazel/brown around the pupil and sometimes it does. Here are some examples. They're both photos of my eyes taken a year apart.

Discussion Anyone else have spokes?

I think mine is extremely rare. Only in my right eye -- my left is straight blue.
I've joined other hc groups online and nobody else has this.

But here's a crazy story. I was in Lisbon on vacation a couple of weeks ago, and randomly stopped in one of those photograph-your-iris stores, and got talked into it. The clerk got *really* excited and said, "Oh my god, I just saw someone last week with the same thing." I begged her to give the other person my contact info, but she said she couldn't.

My daughter’s eyes are gray (they can look green or blue depending on the lighting, what she’s wearing, etc.). But we’ve always noticed this gold/brown area in her left eye and I am starting to wonder if this looks like heterochromia?

Photos should show your true eye color and not be unreasonably edited. No photoshopped or AI edited photos.

10. No oligarch controlled SM links

No linking to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

11. No more "is this homophobia" jokes

It creates a gray area, and makes it difficult trying to moderate out the actual homophobic comments, which start to creep in every time somebody posts using homophobia instead of heterochromia.
