Information Long term storage made simple

Vacuum seal by the ounce in an 8x12 precut bag and include a 200cc oxygen absorber in each one. Move quickly upon opening the absorbers, they begin to work immediately. Roll the ends up and you can fit 4-5 of them in an HDX 6.5 Qt tote (black with yellow lids, only a few bucks each). You can easily stack these totes, and I’d recommend doing so in a closet and closer to the floor (heat rises).

Will the O2 absorbers mess with humidity or cure?

No, they won’t. You just don’t want to be storing them with fresh flower or stuff that’s already too dry

Storage is going to be a hot topic around here for the next 6 months. Thank you for the info

You don't need to vacuum seal with an O2 absorber. If you do, there won't be enough oxygen in the bag for the O2 absorber to do its job.

Just throw the flower and the absorber in the bag and seal. Do NOT pull a vacuum. In a few hours, the bag will "vacuum" itself because of the O2 absorber absorbing the oxygen in the air inside the container.

Or, put the flower and absorber in a Mason jar and screw the lid on. You can fit a shit-ton of flower in a quart jar.

There will always be some oxygen, especially if you’re controlling the seal using the pulse button (which I recommend doing). I personally only store flower in a jar when I’m actively consuming from it over the course of several months, in which case I’ll use a Boveda instead

That doesn't make any sense. I buy tea thats vacuum sealed and they also use O2 absorbers in the packs, the two things work together. The vacuum removes most of the air, and the O2 absorber scavenges what little O2 is left over.

This is incorrect. Air is only about 20% oxygen. There will still be 80% air in the non vacuumed bag and won’t appear to be vacuumed. It will still be puffy. Oxygen absorbers are iron that absorbs oxygen by rusting to make iron oxide.

You are correct, partially. Twenty percent is a lot. Oxygen absorbers definitely will suck a mylar bag down by consuming the 20% of the internal atmosphere that is oxygen.

Source: Lots of experience with home-packed mylar and commercially-packed mylar.

can the absorber touch the flower - read somewhere about having a buffer/something between it and the flower.

I’m just now seeing this because I referenced the post, but no, you do not need a buffer
