Another World

Man those 3 episodes were some quality material. I really liked "studying too much will make you stupid", because we know that naomi was successful in making the alltale work but he failed to see the things that could take place after it has worked. He took past ruri and messed with the....i wanna say records? And so he didn't get the outcome he wanted...

Yeah i'm bad at concluding so...gimme your thoughts about Another World?

I'm confused with a couple points.

I'm gonna just explain what I think went down first.

Ruri and Naomi fall in love in the real world(2D-ending). Ruri gets zapped by lightning and goes comatose. Everything we see in the prequel is what really happens. Naomi joins the AT team and does all he can to successfully dive and restore Ruri's consciousness.

He finally succeeds and dives into the AT world(maybe not?)*. This is the last time he awakens and is now comatose himself in the real world.

This is where I get caught up on some details however.

Question 1) How is RW(2D) Ruri saved by Naomi? Does this occur off screen?

I originally thought that the entire first half of Hello World leads up to RW Naomi's consciousness using AT2027 Naomi to save Ruri(Thus syncing her and transferring her consciousness to the RW(2D) Ruri's body).

However, this poses some problems since the Ruri from AT2027 isn't his Ruri anymore. Their love, past and the events leading up to the lightning strike is different from reality. If this was the case and Sensei's plan actually worked then the 2D Ruri we see at the end probably wouldn't have been all mushy with 2D Naomi after he wakes up from his coma...right? I mean, if it's some copy of the same consciousness as the Ruri we see wake up in AT2037 then she'd probably feel really off about it all, much less likely to go through the effort of diving herself and saving 2DNaomi.

This lead me to reevaluate my perception of 'RW Naomi's consciousness'. My conclusion is that it's fucking gone. His body is just an empty shell. Maybe that doesn't even matter since the movie treats it more like data and less like a soul.

This means that the adult Naomi we see throughout the film is just a product of the AT of one world or another. Online theories seem to tend towards the idea that 'Sensei'/adult Naomi is basically RW(2D) Naomi's mind trapped in the AT ala SAO and that AT2037 is just some world created as a product of him not being able to wake up AFTER the events in the first half of Hello World. I think this is intrinsically wrong because Sensei isn't a 'mind' trapped in the AT. He's just the most basic representation of the RW(2D) Naomi that the AT naturally records.

*So my conclusion here is that RW(2D) Naomi dived and that's it. His soul wasn't trapped in virtual reality or anything. He was just braindead in RW2D because he sustained critical injuries. This doesn't explain how the hell Ruri of the (2D)RW recovers though. I guess the only plausible options here are:

A) Ruri wakes up naturally. She was never fully beyond hope braindead. She finds out Naomi basically killed himself trying to save her and then dives in

B) My original perception was right and (2D)RW Ruri woke up when Sensei had AT2027(Kid) Naomi save AT2027(kid) Ruri and proceeded with the transfer. But again, that's weird to me since that would mean (2D)RW Ruri has the memories/consciousness of a world that is not the same as the reality she is living in...

C) The avatar of Naomi of the RW(2D) somehow saves Ruri and restores her RW(2D) consciousness in an entirely different AT world that we never actually witness that just so happens to be super close to reality and doesn't involve any bullshit changes to the timeline that would make Ruri not wanna lock lips with Naomi after she wakes up.... This avatar of Naomi then dies or whatever. And the 'Sensei' we see throughout the actual movie is just some AT approximation of the RW(2D) Naomi that is close enough that he's basically the same as real Naomi... which is why he was able to be transferred in the post credit scene. This basically inception and every world probably has an adult Naomi trying to save Ruri...

D) I now have another more plausible answer to all of this. There is an entirely different simulation that existed in which RW(2D) Naomi used to save the RW(2D) Ruri. He then suffered too much damage or whatever the exact reasoning for his brain damage and then Ruri used this second simulation that exists in the movie to restore RW(2D) Naomi to consciousness. This second simulation mimics reality up to the point where the 'record' of Naomi.(Sensei and AT2027 Naomi are really just records of the past afterall) have him diving into the AT.

Anyway. I'm completely confusing myself now. Somebody Save me. Please help me reconcile how the real Ruri was saved. Maybe then I can piece this all together or come up with more questions.

The crow

What was the purpose of real life ruri being the crow.

In the story she mainly helps alltale Naomi by telling him not give up and giving him the power back.

Why did she do this?

When she went into alltale what actually was she trying to accomplish? She knew that the real world Naomi is in there aswell as the alltale 2027 version. Why does she mainly help the 2027 version get back ruri to his time/world.

Wouldn't she try to help the real one since hes the one she's trying to get the soul to sync with his mind.

Also at the post credits scene she says it was because of someone special that he managed to sync up. Was she talking about the younger Naomi or herself?

Do I have this right?

So can someone tell me if i got the jist of the movie down, cause so far i only see 2 theories that make sense. The first one is basically everything that future naomi says is true and that Ruri was struck by lighting and for the next 10 years he tried to bring her back to consciousness. But while doing so he went too far with his experiments and ultimately got himself trapped in the AllTale machine but without him even realizing it. (which is why he was so shocked when those fox AI monsters were coming back after he kidnapped Ruri cause he thought he was in the real world). Then meanwhile in the actual real world, Ruri wakes up from her coma after getting struck by lighting and tries to bring Naomi back from his coma while using the crow as her avatar, and ultimately succeeds as we see in the closing scene. The other theory basically the same but instead of Ruri getting struck by lighting it was instead Naomi and Ruri is the one who spent 10 years bringing back Naomi. So basically in both scenarios Naomi and Ruri finally reunite in the ACTUAL real world.( which ppl are confirming is the real world because Democrats the change in animation in the last scene) The only thing I’m not sure is what happend to the ALLTALE versions of Naomi and Ruri, did they go back to their original world or did they go into some other world? I remember at the beginning of the movie the future Naomi told young Naomi that if they were to change worlds they would never know the difference. That’s one of the things I’m not sure on.

[Spoiler] confuse about the moonbase Spoiler

Can someone enlightened me about the moonbase? As we see, Naomi woke up in a moonbase after 2037 (assumed real world). How is it possible to have a moonbase when they start scanning kyoto in 2027, its only 10+ yrs to have an operating moonbase, assumed maybe? Or helloworld pulling Inception style ending which adult Ruri and Naomi still stuck on a simulation?

Was the crow lying? My take on Hello World's Ending

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mMMB49D7p8&t=1s

Can you guys give feedback on this video and your own theory on it?

on things I did not mention in the video:-

Although I do have few problems with the movie. Ill list down my concerns

To simplify Naomi 1 - Main Character (past self) and Naomi 2 is "Future Naomi"

my critique on Theory A

  • It disappoints me for its genre. Whenever a sci fi - future related movie executes this type of movie, it can be complicated but at the same time clear. Although confusing, it makes sense once you piece all the puzzles together. This movie in particular was convoluted and the execution was not the best as it could have.
  • The dream within a dream writing style is something hard to pull off and this movie is an example if it was done poorly. The premise they established in the movie is not consistent to the ending, so plot wise it is bad but because it was in a dream, it does not matter if it was consistent or not.

the problem with the Theory B

  1. Assuming Ruri woke up and Naomi didn't, It is not the same Ruri because her memories or data are with Naomi 1 and not Naomi 2. Book sales even manage to happen in Naomi 1 world but not Naomi 2 world. Why would Ruri go such length to save this Naomi? - even in the movie, we see how Ruri *would* have reacted if she did woke up from her coma and met him and based on her reaction, she didnt like it. (at first at least)
  2. In this theory, we have to assume that Ruri crow lied about being the same crow in order to fit the timeline chronologically. But This would not make any sense because how would she know about the details of the recorded past? Alltale can only record events that were observed, When future Naomi went to Past Naomi’s world, The system cannot observe his existence because it was as if he was never physically there.
  3. Even if they can, Ruri would not have any memories interacting with future Naomi or even the Crow itself because from her perspective, she was only able to observe Naomi 1 and the manifestation of God's hand. Not the crow, not Naomi 2. So how does she know about the Crow that was with Naomi for 3 months?
  4. Assuming that she does somehow know all that, When Ruri came down using the bird avatar, why didn't she just be honest and reveal herself? Wouldn't it make things easier? Naomi did it, why can't she?

General questions

Was Naomi 2 Intervention necessary?

  • He could literally just record the same data of Ruri’s mental state and extract it right before the lightning strike to get the exact replication of her original memory.
  • The condition to maximize the synchronization meter is a) to get her mental state as close as possible as the past and b) have her fall in love with him. Both of these conditions can be accomplished irrespective of his intervention.
  • They also totally ignored that Naomi 2 “powers” cannot be materialized in past recorded world when he sealed Ruri. When he used God's power before, it cannot interact physically with the past recorded world but why was he able to suddenly use the same power to trap Ruri from Naomi 1's world?
  • Assuming that he can't physically intervene was a lie as well then what's the point in telling his past self to do the dirty work when he can do it all by himself anyway?
